I think Danielle has a great suggestion here. Since a lot of eSMS doesn’t allow for customization per advisor and we are all trying to learn from each other and about this how this system works I think a discussion about this would be really useful ! </div>

With the transition to eSMS, the window of time a student has to schedule an appointment has been changed to 1 hour prior to the start of the availability. Per Danielle Flink's response to my inquiry on the onboarding document, this is a CALS decision. </div>

Others likely have their preferences, but I too think 1 hour is too close and if a student is seeking grad planning or other in-depth discussions, we would have little time to prepare for that appointment. This short prep time may require a 2nd appointment
which is burdensome for the student and may lead to students not feeling properly served.</div>

I think of our newer advisors and when I was new to the role, this 1 hour does not allow enough time to prepare and feel confident in what I was doing and for those with more experience, I also think this is a small window of time to process the needs of the
