<p><span style="color:black">Yesterday you may have received an email from Provost Liesl Folks regarding accommodations for students who return from spring break and begin feeling ill during the second half of the semester. I've reprinted her email below
in case you missed it. This message was sent to all faculty and students, although we've identified some cases in which faculty did not receive it, hence the redundancy here. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="color:black">Please note that you can find the latest official UA updates with respect to the Coronavirus outbreaks and campus response on the university website. Look for the red banner labeled Coronavirus Updates about half-way down the UA
home page. I suggest checking this page frequently in the coming days and weeks.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="color:black">It is not too early to begin thinking about the possibility that we may be asked to shift to online delivery of classes for the remainder of the semester. The UA Office of Instruction and Assessment is working on a contingency
plan. I do not have any details to share at this point, and we do not know the likelihood that a shift to online delivery will occur or when. But it is safe to say that the probability is rising. I think it would be prudent to begin considering how you
could modify your course for the balance of the semester if called upon to do so. Of course, the UA OIA will be offering advice and assistance if that should happen, so you won't be on your own. But, you may have to pivot quickly. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="color:black">Assistant Dean Jim Hunt will be our CALS point-person for monitoring the student accommodations protocol set forth by Provost Folks. Our primary objective in implementing these accommodations is to encourage students who feel ill
to stay home, and to do so without fear of penalty in their courses. This is for the safety of the entire campus community. And, we want to be sure that the policy is implemented equitably across all CALS courses. Jim can help you with questions you may
have regarding modified grading policies, exam accommodations, etc. Those of you who know Jim will also know that he is an excellent resource for all things related to online instructional delivery, if it comes to that. So, if you have questions about any
