CATE was established in 2010 to promote, recognize, discuss, support and celebrate teaching excellence and learning, with the goal of continually improving the academic programs in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). Members in the CATE Fellows
are recognized as leaders in teaching excellence, pedagogy, student assessment and student centered learning.<br>
<br>
Membership as a Fellow in CATE is not just an honorary status. Members are expected to actively engage with the Fellows and the College to support the founding principles of the Academy. Current and past members have actively sought to improve teaching, outcomes
assessment and learning throughout CALS. Additionally, the Fellows have been active in the evaluation of Professor of Practice retention and promotion guidelines, teaching load analysis and faculty equity issues. Further, the Fellows conduct several annual
workshops and an annual guest speaker series.<br>
<br>
Membership in CATE is a lifetime appointment, with an expectation of at least five years of active service after initial appointment. Members can cycle between active and inactive status after their first five years of service as career and work commitments
dictate. Calls for nominations are not an annual occurrence and reflect the need to keep active members limited to 10-12 persons during any given period.<br>
<br>
Attached are the guidelines for application packets for nominees. Nominations may be made by anyone, including self-nominations, and all packets must be returned to Jim Hunt (</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><a href="mailto:jeh@email.arizona.edu"><span style="mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New
