This presentation will explore prevalent models used to frame disability and discuss how these ideas impact our professional practice. Typically, disability is understood as an individual problem, deficit or
tragedy, not a sociopolitical phenomenon created and perpetuated by systemic design. Drawing from Disability Studies, we will problematize messages we receive about disability and discuss how to operationalize new thinking that will ultimately contribute to
a more equitable and inclusive experience on campus.
