As an Elder Rehab intern, you would meet with an assigned memory-impaired participant twice a week for two hours at the Tucson JCC, 3800 E. River Rd., (hours to be arranged between trainer and participant) for ten weeks, and supervise your partner in an hour of physical<br>
exercise (treadmill, stationary bike, and weight machines) supplemented by language and memory stimulation exercises, and an hour of volunteer work, e.g., reading to pre-schoolers at the JCC or taking them for rides in their strollers. <br>
<br>
Training and supervision will be provided by Dr. Sharon Arkin,<br>
a clinical psychologist who created and directed the UA program and JCC personal trainers. Students may also be paired with a college student intern.<br>
<br>
The program is scheduled to begin in January, 2015, but you would be interviewed by Dr. Arkin during the fall 2014 semester.<br>
