If you want to still add a class on <strong>UACCESS</strong>, you have until <u><span data-term="goog_1913221489" tabindex="0">Tuesday, September 2</span></u>! After that, you will need the instructor’s signature on the Change of Schedule form to ADD.<br>
<br>
<strong>IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR DROPPING OR WITHDRAWING</strong><br>
Changes to the university’s dropping and withdrawing policies for undergraduate students were approved at the May 5th Faculty Senate meeting and become effective in Fall 2014. There are four main changes:<br>
1. Adjusted Deadlines<br>
2. New 18 Unit Cap on W Grades<br>
3. Complete Withdrawal Changes<br>
4. Late Drop Fee Timeframe<br>

There is now an 18 unit cap on the number of units for which a student may receive a W grade. Your previous W grades will not be counted. Only W grades earned in Fall 2014 or later will be counted.<br>
If you ever meet or exceed 18 units of W coursework, you will not be allowed to drop with a W grade in any future classes. You will need to accept the grade earned in the class.<br>

<strong>3. Complete Withdrawal Changes</strong><br>
The process remains the same. You submit the Complete Withdrawal form, online. You may still drop (with a W grade) your classes in UAccess through the 10th week, however UAccess will prevent you from dropping all of your classes and will direct you to the online Complete Withdrawal form to finish the process.<br>
All complete withdrawal grades will be noted on the transcript as WC grades. WP and WF grades will not be used.<br>

<strong>4. Late Drop Fee Timeframe</strong><br>
The per class $25 late drop fee will be in effect starting week 2 through week 10.</span></span><br>

A GRO tab has been added to UAccess for undergraduate students only. Students who wish to file for a GRO will submit a GRO request during GRO filing period for each eligible course. For more information, please refer to the website below.<br>

<strong>Nancy Schlegel, </strong>UA Class of ’85 and <strong>President of the Reid Park Zoological Society, </strong>guides the Society in their mission to support, advocate for and enhance the value of the City-owned Reid Park Zoo for the community. Her background as a CPA and CFO has helped build a strong financial base, doubling membership revenue in the past five years. Nancy loves coming to the zoo ever since her mom became a docent in the late 1970’s. She’s passed on that love to two daughters who are also Arizona Wildcats.<br>
<strong>Jennifer Parker</strong>, UA Class of ’95 (special education and rehabilitation) is a competitive, award-winning horseback rider specializing in dressage. She owns and operates <strong>Agape Dressage</strong>, which offers equestrian training programs tailored to the needs and goals of each horse and rider. Jennifer has a strong background in Therapeutic Riding and is a faculty member at Borderlands Center for Equine Assisted Services. She has been involved with equine assisted activities/therapies since 1986.<br>
<strong>Jan Hutchinson</strong>, UA Classes of ’77 (special education), '83 (MEd student personnel services), '87 (MA journalism) is the former program director for Gabriel’s Angel's Southern Arizona program, a non-profit organization that delivers pet therapy to at-risk youth. Jan is also a licensed instructor and evaluator for the Pet Partners (formerly called Delta Society) Therapy Animal Program and a <strong>founder of the local Pet Partners affiliate, Therapy Animals of Southern Arizona.</strong><br>
<strong>Dr. Michele Estheimer</strong>, UA Class of '05 (veterinary science), is a <strong>Veterinarian at Ventana Animal Hospital</strong>. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, and returned to Tucson to complete advanced training in a small animal surgical and medical internship program at one of Tucson's specialty and emergency centers. Dr. Estheimer has been in general practice in Tucson for the past several years.<br>
<strong>Alicia Hamilton is a keeper at The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum</strong>, one of three keepers responsible for the care of 65 individuals covering 22 different species. She began her zoo career when she was 16 at the Los Angeles Zoo. She has since completed 3 internships at aquariums on both the east and west coast. She earned her degree in Recreation Management and Wildlife Biology, focusing on natural resource conservation, and has worked with the U.S. Forest Service and Parks and Recreation. <br>

<div style="text-align: center;">This past summer, 3 members of the Student Chapter of the Wildlife Disease Association at The University of Arizona were able to attend the 63<sup>rd</sup> Annual International WDA Conference in New Mexico.<br>
<br>
Club President Ana Gonzalez, club Treasurer Renee Fisher, and club Member Brandis Johnson traveled (comfortably in a University of Arizona Motor-pool rented vehicle, thanks to the help of several supportive staff members of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences!) to Albuquerque, NM, from July 27<sup>th</sup> to August 1<sup>st</sup> to participate in the event as student volunteers. While they helped at the WDA conference throughout the week, they were also able to view the presentations given by veterinarians and wildlife biologists and converse with other WDA members. This conference was a great opportunity for these three aspiring veterinarians to expand their knowledge in the several fields of study in wildlife disease and veterinary medicine.<br>

A few weeks after participating in the conference, the University of Arizona’s WDA Student Chapter was awarded a grant from the WDA Student Activities Committee. These funds will be used towards the events and activities we planned for our student members this upcoming fall 2014 semester!<br>

The <a href="http://arizona.us7.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=d02ce653ff78467d92a1ca720&id=cb5ba7f0e3&e=cd3906844f" target="_blank">National Cattlemen’s Beef Association </a>is accepting applications for internships during the 2015 Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio, Texas, Feb. 4-7, 2015. The deadline to submit an application is Oct. 6, 2014.<br>

This year will mark the 117<sup>th</sup> Cattle Industry Convention, which is the oldest and largest convention for the cattle industry. The convention and trade show create a unique, fun environment for cattle industry members to come together to network and create policy for the industry.<br>
<br>
“This convention brings leaders from across the industry together to network and discuss issues important to the beef industry,” said NCBA Public Policy Analyst Mallory Gaines. “Along with helping to see the convention run smoothly, students will be provided time to maximize their opportunities to network and learn throughout the week.”<br>
<br>
The annual Cattle Industry Convention boasts over 5,500 attendees and a trade show with more than 250 booths. Interns are offered a unique, behind-the-scenes experience of setting up the trade show, manning the NCBA Political Action Committee booth, assisting with the NCBA-PAC auction, helping members vote on NCBA policy, working with the media and helping to guide cattlemen and cattlewomen to convention events.<br>
