Students are informed of their course eligibility. They are not given their UAENGL test type (UAWP or UACH) or score (100, 101, 109, etc.) as we found that this causes confusion. You might agree after reading the attached table <span style='font-family:Wingdings'>J</span>. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Students can view their course eligibility in Next Steps Center (NSC), as well as the Writing Placement web site (which they can only link to through NSC). <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>If writing placement isn’t finalized prior to the OOS pre-schedule run, students won’t be pre-scheduled for English. This will happen if students don’t take the exam by the evaluation deadline, OR if the data we need to calculate a placement isn’t in the system. Because placements can be entered into the system AFTER the pre-schedule runs, advisors can check a student’s placement in UAccess under Test Credits or Test Results. The attached table will help you inform a student of his/her course eligibility. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Students with English transfer credit can see the Math Coordinator during OOS Orientation. Tina and Laurie graciously offered to assist as much as possible, but will also forward names/SID’s to the Writing Program to take care of first thing Monday morning.
