Was the question asked of University of Arizona students on Thursday, November 21st as part of the “I Love Farmers, Where’s the Food Without the Farmer” campaign. Club members from the University of Arizona Collegiate Livestock Growers Association (CLGA), a club which offers hands-on experience in the livestock community, partnered with other students from college campuses around the country to hold the “WTF? Where’s the Food Without the Farmer Day V.”<br><br>This event is coined as a campus invasion of “AGvocacy” for family farmers and ranchers. Oftentimes, students and consumers will see a misleading or nonfactual segment on TV or a misleading post on Facebook about agriculture on how their food is raised. “WTF Day is a great opportunity to talk to other students about where our food comes from and how it’s grown. It was shocking to realize that some people still think their food just comes from the grocery store with no thought to all the work that goes into it before the grocery store is ever mentioned,” said MacKenzie Martin, committee chair for the event and CLGA Reporter. <br>This program enables CLGA members to share their knowledge of agriculture with their peers and to answer questions which were previously a mystery. The event ran from 10am to 1pm with 10 enthusiastic students reaching 600 fellow students with a message about agriculture. Freebies such as cheese sticks, beef sticks and candy were given away, offering a chance for continued conversation. “It’s exciting to see these students get out there and share their enthusiasm for Arizona agriculture,” shared Tiffany Hayes from the Arizona Beef Council and alumna of the University of Arizona. “Two weeks prior to the event Lauren Scheller, Arizona Beef Council, conducted a spokesperson training workshop to ensure that all students participating in the event knew how to handle a difficult person or hard-hitting question. We want to be sure that all students were prepared so that they could feel confident and excited about the event.”<br><br>The event was made possible through a partnership between the Collegiate Livestock Growers Association, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Arizona Beef Council. </span><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p></o:p></span></p></div></td></tr><tr><td style='padding:.75pt .75pt .75pt .75pt'></td></tr></table></td></tr><tr><td style='padding:0in 0in 0in 0in'><table class=MsoNormalTable border=0 cellpadding=0><tr><td style='border:solid #003366 1.0pt;background:white;padding:3.75pt 3.75pt 3.75pt 3.75pt;max-width: 280px'><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><img border=0 id="_x0000_i1035" src="http://cals.arizona.edu/cas/sites/cals.arizona.edu.cas/files/newsletter/8_26_2013/clubs.jpg" alt="Clubs/Activities"><o:p></o:p></span></p><div><p><span class=red-bold1><span style='font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Got a club meeting coming up? </span></span><b><span style='font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#AB0520'><br><span class=red-bold1>Send your announcements to: </span></span></b><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p></o:p></span></p><p><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><a href="mailto:kdtrujil@email.arizona.edu"><b><span style='color:#003366'>kdtrujil@email.arizona.edu</span></b></a><o:p></o:p></span></p></div></td></tr><tr><td style='padding:.75pt .75pt .75pt .75pt'></td></tr></table></td></tr><tr><td style='padding:0in 0in 0in 0in'></td></tr></table></td><td width="50%" valign=top style='width:50.0%;padding:0in 7.5pt 0in 7.5pt' id=right-col><table class=MsoNormalTable border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 width="100%" style='width:100.0%'><tr><td style='padding:0in 0in 0in 0in'><table class=MsoNormalTable border=0 cellpadding=0><tr style='max-width: 280px'><td style='border:solid #003366 1.0pt;background:white;padding:3.75pt 3.75pt 3.75pt 3.75pt'><p class=MsoNormal align=center style='text-align:center'><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><img border=0 width=260 height=173 id="_x0000_i1036" src="http://gallery.mailchimp.com/d02ce653ff78467d92a1ca720/images/download.1.jpeg"><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal align=center style='text-align:center'><span style='font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Spring 2014 GRE Workshop option<br> <br>The Graduate College encourages students to prepare for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) through formal or informal instruction and study, as appropriate to the individual.
