Sharing an update from Campus Community Connections on new student space names.

Also, this coming Monday 10/13 there is an ARC Advisor Masterclass from 12-1pm that will include an overview of Campus Community Connections - right below is the information from UPAC listserv:

Dear Wildcats,

As co-directors of the Student Culture & Engagement Hub, we are happy to share some exciting updates about three of our Campus Community Connections student spaces<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=e0199296f1dbec6983900479b6d2d651f4fe2917facd6c7f278587384986f40c707be47d0728799221afef8272a8eabe2bb47889532116bb>.

With guidance from the coordinators, students led the process for choosing new names reflecting the identities, histories, and communities they represent. While the process varied across spaces, the methods included collecting suggestions for names from students through anonymous online surveys, in-person meetings, and social media naming contests.

The final names, selected by students, honor the spirit of each student space while continuing our commitment to belonging, support, and empowerment for all students.

Here are the names that were chosen by students:

  *   Omnes Disability Student Space (Omnes is the Latin word meaning “everybody” or “all”)
  *   MLK Dream Student Space
  *   Lotus Lounge Student Space

SUMC 404 Student Space staff and their affiliated student council are currently engaging in an intentional process to rename their space.

The purpose of each space remains the same: providing a welcoming place where any student can connect, recharge, and build community.

We invite you to visit these spaces, as well as the Adalberto & Ana Guerrero Student Space and the Women & Gender Student Space, whether to join an event, study, access support and resources, or simply be in community with others.
