Subject: [oac] Changes to note for Registration Assistance programming
Hello lovely OAC partners,
I wanted to provide you all with an update to the Registration Assistance program. Beginning tomorrow, June 7th, and continuing for all NSOs, the Math & Language placements teams will no longer be housed at the general Registration Assistance link. The Writing team will follow suit effective this Friday, June 9th.
Math (including Schedule for Success and Algebra Plus Prog.), Writing and all Language placements will be housed in their own Zoom rooms. This should not have an impact on students' navigation to these places, as they have been listed separately on the website. Please have students navigate via Campus Connections<http://orientation.arizona.edu/campusconnections> or the Orientation Day Schedule<https://orientation.arizona.edu/day-schedule> to access the Registration Assistance and place support they may need. We are also working on Next Steps Center to include navigation to these places of support via their schedule.
Thank you all for your continued support!
Best as always,
Paige

Writing Placement Information sent 6/6/23:
Hello Orientation Team!
PLEASE review this information before advising students tomorrow!
This list is for tomorrow's orientation. Please note that the list may contain students who have cancelled their admission (I run this orientation list from Query Viewer and it doesn't, as of yet, contain a column for status).
* The students who did not complete the FWE in time and received temporary placements have placements listed in the column "Temporary placement" and highlighted in yellow.
* These are often the students who most need to come talk to a Writing Placement Advisor (especially if they want to change/update the temporary placement or have dual enrollment/English exams to report), so please take note of those in your college and SEND THEM TO US!
* Writing Placement Advising takes place during Registration Assistance<https://arizona.zoom.us/j/82703736536.> (we are available from 2:30-4:30).
*
The Writing Program is also proud to be a part of the University's new Project ADELANTE with a Borderlands-focused Foundation Writing Course available to incoming students (FA 23)! Please share this information with your students who have selected ENGL 101A!
Borderlands ENGL 101A
Section 037
T/TH 9:30 - 10:45 am + Studio: W 9-9:50 OR W 10-10:50 am
This course fulfills a first-year Foundations Writing requirement and invites students into writing with a focus on Latinx literary traditions. Students will read and respond to a variety of texts from Mestizo cultures (especially those representing the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands) recognizing our diverse lands and ancestry. This course offers practice in writing skills within a unique cultural context embodying UArizona’s designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) to develop a sense of belonging in academia and a sense of purpose in our shared writing communities.
Students interested in this section should submit this form:

The University of Arizona sits on the original homelands of indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land since time immemorial. Aligning with the university’s core value of a diverse and inclusive community, it is an institutional responsibility to recognize and acknowledge the people, culture and history that make up the Wildcat community. At the institutional level, it is important to be proactive in broadening awareness throughout campus to ensure our students feel represented and valued.
