Each semester for the past 28 years, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is proud to provide internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students through the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program (HNIP). These internships provide valuable professional experience for students while also exposing students to the important work that is done at USDA. This partnership with HACU represents a larger USDA strategy aimed at ensuring a diverse, prepared, and competitive workforce that is vital to establishing a sustainable agricultural future. As a result of their positive internship experiences and supportive and inclusive culture at USDA, many former HACU National Internship Program (HNIP) students are now members of the USDA permanent workforce.

The application is currently open and the deadline to apply for Summer 2023 is February 28, 2023.

All positions are paid and there are virtual, in-person and hybrid opportunities available.   There are opportunities for students of all majors and disciplines. In order to apply to the HACU National Internship Program (HNIP), applicants must meet the following criteria:
*       Enrolled in an accredited institution's degree-seeking program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
*       Spring graduates are eligible for summer sessions. Recent Graduates are eligible for a limited number of internships.
*       Have completed Freshman year.
*       Minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
*       U.S. Citizen
