Greetings Colleagues,

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is seeking enthusiastic candidates for multiple Academic Advisor I and II level positions.  Please consider recommending these positions.  Thank you in advance.

CALS offers over 20 distinct undergraduate majors across ten academic units. The primary purpose of these positions is to provide quality academic advising, mentoring and support services to students. Advisors will be assigned to students declared in either Plant Sciences; Sustainable Plant Systems, Applied Biotechnology, Entomology and/or seeking major exploration. The advisor will work cross-functionally with the departments to support student experiences. The advisors will also assist with college wide programs and services. This includes developmental and strengths-based learning strategies. Advisors play a key role as a team player in the delivery of the following retention strategies: student success courses for CALS incoming students and those with academic eligibility statuses; new student orientations; student events; recruitment; and outreach activities. The advisors will work in close collaboration with faculty and staff in multiple CALS units inclusive of Career and Academic Services. The successful candidates will work in a fast-paced environment and must consistently demonstrate creativity, flexibility, initiative and effective teamwork. The positions will report to the CALS Senior Director of Advising and Student Services and will work collaboratively with the respective departments, CALS academic advisors and CAS staff.
