[Agvisors] Summer 2023 Calendar

I am in support of option 2.

Question: Are these 2023 dates for in person or remote modality?  I recall remote being previously shared as the plan for 2022 & 2023 by the orientation team.  If these are for in person orientations, I kindly request for remote modality to be advocated.

Equitable modality option:
If students/families at the very least have an option for the modality of orientation, that seems like an important flexible option UArizona can provide to Main campus students.  It is cost prohibitive to visit Tucson for a day or an overnight stay, just to attend an in-person orientation day and then return to Tucson when the student moves in, in August.
I understand that folks may want the in person Main campus orientation experience, however, for those that can't afford it, they should be given equitable options to attend orientation, other than in person only.  Attending college in general and completing orientation is expensive as it is, adding the cost of travel, lodging and food for orientation visits, may be too much for some to afford, and we run the risk of losing admitted students.

If we only have a choice between option one and option two. I would prefer option two. Even if the UA picks option one, I will not be available the first week of July. We all deserve a vacation.

Below is information regarding two Summer 2023 new student orientation calendar proposals.  Your feedback and recommendations are requested to collectively send on behalf of CALS. Please respond to this email with your suggestions, notes, feedback by June 27th at 5pm.   CALS feedback will be submitted to the NSO team via an online form by their requested deadline of June 28.

The NSO team has included the following important considerations:
- Each calendar option has 17 First-Year sessions and 10 Transfer sessions
- Calendar One is the calendar that was sent out for a vote, back-ending sessions in July & early August
- Calendar Two is a new draft that has First-Year sessions in early July and then allows for a semi-free July with mostly Transfer sessions in August (with the exception of the typical two First-Year sessions)

Thank you all for taking time recently to review our proposed 2023 Summer/Fall Orientation Calendar and provide feedback. As you can imagine, we got a wide range of feedback with excitement and positive affirmations, but also concerns on a couple of different fronts. We decided to put together another option for consideration.

We are asking our campus partners to review our 2023 Calendar Change Option One<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1v-S-RLCFfFN9XTFJDj5MpwTz5r4R_K25Rqd4Z8JAPRQ/edit?usp=sharing> and our 2023 Calendar Change Option Two<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18Bsr-lk59uqPWa4T4fE1M_316S7T6ZJvWQ60EuhMrU8/edit?usp=sharing> and then provide their recommendation using this form. Dolores will have to begin building these sessions in UAccess soon, so we are on a little bit of a tight timeline. We are hoping that you all can provide your recommendation by end of day Tuesday, June 28th at 5 p.m.
