Subject: [uaac] General Education - Seat Release & Pre-scheduler

Dear colleagues,

We are excited to provide several updates about the rollout of the new General Education<https://ge.arizona.edu/> curriculum that will support new student enrollment in General Education courses.

Seat Release
We will no longer be holding seats for General Education courses and then release those seats prior to each orientation session via the automated Tier 1 Seat Release process.  The Office of General Education will be monitoring the enrollment in General Education courses to ensure there are sufficient seats available for students throughout the orientation cycle. The Office of General Education will be working with colleges and academic units to adjust offerings as appropriate.

Pre-Scheduler
We will continue to utilize the pre-scheduler process to give an initial schedule for new main campus students at their Orientation session.
The courses included in the pre-scheduler are determined by the academic units; and will include UNIV 101 and general education courses. Building Connections and Exploring Perspectives courses with catalog numbers between 100 - 299 and without course-level prerequisites will be eligible for pre-scheduling. This decision ensures that all new students have a full schedule prior to their meeting with an academic advisor as part of orientation.
