Learning Tip: Time Management
It’s a good time here in Tucson to take a minute and reflect on the past two weeks.

  * How have you done with time management?
  * Do you find yourself missing classes or assignments?
  * Or do you find yourself spending all your time trying to keep your head above water with no time to enjoy campus life?
Now is the time to reflect on the past two weeks of classes and plan for the rest of the semester. This time management grid<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=1562f20685e1e70e679954c887e7ea8cfbc035a1dd606cd983e4b80e4570dbac62bacfe4ec52c5a5aca6fd31d1234bf5b9b40c1ef97f8005> will help you do just that. It takea less than 10 minutes to fill out but will offer a ton of support in this semester.

  *   Fill in all classes
  * Fill in all weekly commitments (clubs, study sessions, sports activities)
  * Fill in breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Now, you can look for gaps in your day to schedule homework, reading, and fun. Before committing to anything, look at your grid to determine if you truly have the time.

Make this semester your best yet Wildcats! Bear Down!

Be Your Best Learner!
You can learn to be your best learner. Sound strange? It’s true! Like professional athletes, trained musicians, or skilled artisans, mastering a skill at your highest level doesn’t happen overnight. This type of success is built on years of training, experience, falling – and getting back up again.

Learning is that way too. Learners, like you, can refine and elevate their ability to understand, comprehend, and communicate. Where does your journey to learning success begin? For students in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, you’ll start with the CALS Learning Lab: Powered by the SALT Center.

Shawnda Garcia, CALS Learning Coach, works with CALS students to develop success goals, build skill with proven academic strategies and help learners learn better. Connect with "Coach" Shawnda to develop skills in:

  *   Organizing Course Material
  *   Time Management
  *   Reading Strategies
  *   Study Strategies
  *   And so much more!

Avoiding Employment Scams
- UArizona, Student Engagement & Career Development

Welcome to the University of Arizona and the new academic year. The University of Arizona’s Student Engagement & Career Development, SECD, is excited for you to begin your classes and engage with new opportunities, including undergraduate research, jobs, and internships. Unfortunately, the start of a new year also brings a renewed effort by malicious actors who may target you as a college student with fake jobs and opportunities pretending to be official UArizona representatives.

To help you protect yourself against these fraudulent efforts, SECD has some helpful tips:

  * If something feels “too good to be true,” be suspicious
  * Do not provide an employer you do not know with any personal financial information
  * Search in Handshake to find vetted opportunities

Intersectional perspectives and approaches are critical for understanding the way in which issues of diversity and inclusion shape diverse student experiences and outcomes in higher education.

In this presentation, Dr. Jill Williams will discuss recent efforts to use an intersectional approach to understand disparities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) student outcomes at the University of Arizona and how our findings can be used to inform diversity and inclusion efforts.

Dr. Jill Williams is Associate Research Professor in the Southwest Institute for Research on Women and Director of the Women in Science and Engineering Program at the University of Arizona.
