[Agvisors] CALS Career Fairs start this week - please share with your students

Hello Advisors,

I sent out the email below via Handshake to graduate and undergraduate students in CALS with the details of the career fairs to be held Thursday/Friday this week and Monday/Tuesday next week. Please share broadly with your students and encourage them to attend. There are truly opportunities for all students in a variety of industries and companies. All of the career fairs are virtual so no matter the campus, students can participate. Please let me know if you or your students have any questions.

The 2021 CALS Virtual Career Fairs begin on Thursday, October 21. There are four fairs this year based on career interests - so no matter your major you are invited to participate in the fairs that align with the areas you are interested in pursuing for your career.

Thursday, October 21: Agriculture, Science, and Technology
Friday, October 22: Environment and Sustainability
Monday, October 25: Health and Helping Professions
Tuesday, October 26: Business and Commerce

All of the career fairs are hosted from 4pm to 6pm and we have received several questions regarding the format. Beginning at 4pm all employers participating in the fair will give a brief overview of the organization and the positions they are recruiting for (internship or full time). Then there will be three breakout sessions at ~4:30pm, ~5pm, and ~5:30pm. This will allow you to visit three different employers and learn more about the organization, how to apply to their opportunities, and schedule a 1:1 follow-up meeting or interview. If you have class or other commitments and can only attend one breakout, that is fine. This is an outstanding way to connect with employers and take the next steps to securing an internship or full-time position because these employers are looking specifically for CALS students.

To find the employers attending look at the career fair you are interested in on Handshake. It would also be great to have you RSVP via the Handshake link. However, I am including the zoom link for each fair below to make access easy - just click on the link for the career fair(s) you are interested in on the day of the fair and show up, it is that simple.
