APASA

A Statement to Our Community

In the past 12 months, we have seen an escalation of Anti-Asian hate crimes and incidents against our community. I want to alert our campus community and allies to be mindful of the toll this has taken on our students and their families. APASA condemns these racist behaviors and stands against bigotry, hatred, and xenophobia. We ask our UA campus community to be mindful and be alert of racists behaviors.

This week we will be holding a community forum to provide students and community members with a space to process recent events affecting our community.

For support, campus and nation-wide community resources can be found at this link: https://diversity.arizona.edu/apida-harassment

If you would like to speak with APASA staff regarding these issues, please contact me, Kenny Importante, at kimportante at arizona.edu<mailto:kimportante at arizona.edu>.

APAMSA & Be the Match Team up to Save Lives!

Be the match is the world's largest and most diverse blood stem cell donor registry. We connect patients with blood cancers and diseases with genetically matched donors who are willing to give life-saving blood stem cells. But not all patients have an equal chance of finding a match. Students have the power to disrupt this disparity and literally save lives. Donation is safe, free, and confidential.

Help our APAMSA Chapter win funds by joining the initiative to increase the representation of minority groups, especially API, in the national bone marrow registry.

Jacob is a 12 year-old boy from Hawaii that was diagnosed with Idiopathic Aplastic Anemia (IAA), which means that his body does not produce new blood cells. He was diagnosed at 11 years and has since been searching for his matching donor.
