Hi Gabrielle,

Thank you for this update, this is great news.  I wonder if the "choose appointment" space can be updated with an edit in the verbiage?
The green box and words make it seem as though a student can meet with any academic advisor for any reason, as long as their schedules align.  However, that is misleading as students can't meet with me for example, for microbiology advising.  Perhaps, that message verbiage can be edited to state: "...you are free to meet with any advisor that represents the major/minor for which you are seeking information."  I have added an image attachment to this email with the specific area highlighted.  Thank You!

P.S.:  May I ask for the new navigation steps to be put together in a PDF and linked with a CALS site url so that we can send that out to students?  Having the previous navigation how-to guide was extremely helpful.  Thanks!

Hi Agvisors,



I’m updating the eSMS How To guides based on the more recent (and awesome) updates. I wanted to share a few quick screen grabs with you all right now – specifically a quick path for students to schedule advising appts.



>From student.esms.arizona.edu only (meaning, not when an advisor is logged in and then searches for a student), a current CALS student will see:

  1.  Appointment Homepage: Notice the “My Advisors” box in the upper right corner. The advisor listed in that box is the student’s major advisor. Clicking the “Book” link takes a student to the search.
  2.  Searching Availability: Notice the upper right corner box has changed to green (meaning, eSMS is searching for that advisor’s schedule)
  3.  Choose Appointment: Notice only appointments for the major advisor are displayed here! Student can widen their search if they want to connect with other advisors (apologies – I didn’t grab the “widen search” button on this screen grab but will for the updated How To).
