Dear Danielle,
As the fall semester approaches, you may have questions about University of Arizona COVID-19 guidelines. Below, you will find our latest recommendations, which are effective immediately at all University of Arizona campuses and locations throughout the state.
Vaccination
The University will continue to strongly encourage, but not require, that all members of our campus community be vaccinated. Vaccination protects the vast majority of recipients from severe infection and transmission of the coronavirus, including the variants identified to date.
If you are in Tucson, you can receive your vaccine at locations<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a9955762f36b45a1b43118f696091282c281f9497558b8b40f8cbff00227b67d31ced84a0c2a0b9dfec8eaddb511e03b4f446e592b5f7e2f65709e7> across Pima County. Campus Health<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a9955760ade4e37cf977ce5110efd720b994f51583711071dc1f2adda1aa839c4d233da987d8a948d4ab0e5aac9bd4227c64041954d9a1cc87e10bc> is now offering the Pfizer vaccine to all University students and benefits-eligible employees during their summer hours Mon-Fri 8am-4pm (Wed 9am-4pm). If you’re outside of Tucson, check VaccineFinder<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a995576c0e5bfa2835a69eebecc8f73d7197a6448fec8617f589317c60ceb360d8f28be1f72d09a16b2144c43bbc99054e523f2f0e8bbca6809d0fa> for availability in your area.
If you are fully vaccinated, please upload your vaccine document by using the secure HIPAA-compliant Campus Health system<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a99557636c154b36dcb64e9f36e97b069536cd395df11c672fc69b7f830868aacd468b1feb0014669782a29e16d707eccdadff4a2fda0c5eaca95cf>. This critical step will help us track our progress toward campus immunity. More than 15,000 students have already completed their uploads.
Vaccination Incentives
Students who upload their vaccine document will be randomly selected to receive items such as annual parking permits, ZonaZoo passes, or lunch with one of our Arizona Athletics coaches. Visit the COVID-19 vaccine page<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a9955769da81ae866ca2a965e532ccab36bb5f7cab07951c9bbf12a8faea619896d479931d104b6d73cf1c5c70e06315b12e770a9548157eec9d3e9> to learn more.
Testing
We will continue to offer voluntary, free, and convenient COVID-19 testing to students on main campus. The University strongly encourages unvaccinated individuals to be tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis, although COVID-19 testing is no longer mandatory for any students. Visit the COVID-19 testing page<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a9955769fca4b6c3a74e09acb519c35c7309efcd627410fb95b67e9b8fbea1e05163e1040712b9271b793b916bbea87d1f8e772482481655be55b34> for more information.
Please note that, in accordance with the new Arizona statute, the University may require students and/or employees to comply with mandatory COVID-19 testing in the event of a significant outbreak, as determined by the Arizona Department of Health Services.
If you experience any COVID-19 symptoms<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a995576021db2c4a6b60042fccb5cab28e5ceff15ae1913534aa25c7269f6f723c80223095e864056fc22bfa26a4268a886915052fb19192ceee2ba>, we recommend you call to make an appointment to get tested by Campus Health<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a99557663bc13917697a7ace690474435eade141acb80b62d3b213c34116c9955242fd625fc87c2eea37092a0def776ee573935f1c3ad53927f1f8e> or your health care provider.
Housing
If you will be living on-campus, Housing & Residential Life will be sending you additional information by email soon.
Face Coverings
The use of face coverings is strongly encouraged at all of our campuses and locations especially during group activities, such as classes or athletic events, in indoor settings.
Face coverings continue to be required in the following locations, regardless of vaccination status:
* Inside a Cat Tran shuttle or any other public transportation provided by the University.
* Any building/facility that is operated by or affiliated with the University where patients or human research subjects participating in clinical research are seen in person.
* In locations where personal protective equipment (including masks) has always been required to maintain safety protocols for situations with high hazards, such as areas where regulated chemicals are used or stored and other laboratory settings.
Please review the current CDC guidance on the use of masks<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a995576e9fddb8f092a4d959ac9b93924de95e466e52ad56fb506cd33bd1c564eab76ab5f26fa4a3fab27b4518ef8db7ae88b1b5c114ba15f08d058>.
Students Involved in Health Care Services and Certain Laboratory Work
Under Arizona law, students may be required to submit to health screenings and testing mandates and/or provide proof of vaccination if:
* The student is participating in clinical settings at an institution licensed under A.R.S. Title 36 (hospitals, nursing care homes, residential care institutions, intermediate care institutions, facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, group homes, or other medical facilities) and the institution has screening, testing, and/or vaccination requirements.
* The student is engaged in research or testing that involves a live COVID-19 virus.
Fall 2021 Plans
We recognize and are monitoring the risks and challenges posed by the continuing spread of the delta variant and we will continue to review the public health data daily. We will communicate any changes to our campus operations as needed.
To stay up-to-date consult the University’s COVID-19 website<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=21487eac6a99557683c3360991be2d487331b9054fd53687884213c2c0fc7a4cdb8939472569e6cad164dfc8290f4eecf22db7b11d0b675d505fb9986b4925ec> for the latest information.
Thank you for helping to keep our campus and community safe.
