Hi everyone,

International Student Services (ISS) will be applying a new service indicator if a new international student has not completed check-in items for ISS. The International Student Check-in (ISC) service indicator will replace the old undergraduate AIO (International Orientation) service indicator. Students that have Global Orientation items to complete will have this service indicator on their account starting tomorrow, January 12th.

To remove the service indicator, please refer them to our email titled, “Spring 2021 International Student Check-in Requirements” or to Orientation and Check-In on our New Students page<https://global.arizona.edu/international-students/undergraduate-students>. There are different requirements for students who will enroll remotely and students who enroll inside the U.S.

If the ISC has a reason code if Intl Check-in Required (ICR), the student has not completed any check-in items for ISS.
If the ISC has a Intl Check-in Incomplete (ICI), the student has completed a partial check-in (for example: completed Document Review, but not the Immigration Tutorial or New Student Information e-forms)

Spring 2021 Immigration Guidance
When assisting international students with enrollment, please keep in mind we have students inside and outside the U.S. Only new students entering the U.S. or students with active records outside the U.S. are required to be full-time for immigration purposes. The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has stated in the December 2020 SEVP Spotlight<https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/december-2020-sevp-spotlight> that "the COVID-19 guidance from March 2020<https://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/bcmFall2020guidance.pdf> is still currently in place until further notice." There is no restriction on the number of online classes that count toward full-time enrollment for maintaining Active SEVIS status. Students on Main Campus can enroll in 100 percent online coursework and maintain Active status in SEVIS, however, students who intend to enroll in 100 percent online coursework may face difficulties obtaining an F-1 visa or entering the U.S. for the spring semester.  Students should be prepared to show a class schedule to demonstrate they do not intend to enroll in 100 percent online coursework.
