Hello Advisors,

I am going to try to send some things each week that may be of interest to you. I also want to encourage you to follow CALS on LinkedIn<https://www.linkedin.com/company/uarizonacals> and follow or connect with me<https://www.linkedin.com/in/bewrad/>

LinkedIn is such a valuable resource and really can be a great way to foster your own professional development and learn more about the opportunities for your students. We share articles on a variety of topics suitable for professionals and students at all levels and I always try to highlight specific articles suitable for graduate students as well. I “like” job and internship opportunities of many varieties that I think would be of interest to the students I am connected with, as well as elevating information I think valuable for the professionals I am connected with. If you want to learn more about how to utilize LinkedIn for your advising and how to support your students I would be happy to connect directly with you or with a group of you - just let me know.

Blurb to share with your students promoting the career center: Looking for a job is a job. Just like you schedule time for work and class, you should be scheduling time for your career development. A few hours a week of research, online networking, resume writing, reflection on experiences for skill development, and job or internship searching will make a big impact on your success. The CALS Career Center is available to support you in your career development process. Please reach out to schedule an appointment or get support by email, https://cals.arizona.edu/students/cals-career-center.

Career Fairs this week: https://career.arizona.edu/events/spring-career-days?utm_medium=webeventcard&utm_source=button&utm_campaign=scd-sp21

Upcoming NRCS hiring event: The Natural Resources Conservation Service is hiring over 1500 individuals before September in a variety of areas. We are working with them to host a hiring event in March to specifically recruit graduating students. Marketing coming soon, just wanted to make sure this was on your radar so you can let your students know.

Recent articles on careers and college: There has been a lot of recent press on the importance career services will have on college decisions. Two recent articles, one from Forbes<https://www.forbes.com/sites/brandonbusteed/2020/12/21/career-services-will-define-the-next-big-boom-in-college-enrollment/?sh=e71f2a5145e7> and from the Wall Street Journal<https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-crisis-of-unemployed-college-graduates-11612454124> It is going to be important for us to work together to offer services for CALS students and I look forward to collaborating with you to ensure we are offering the best outcomes for our students.

I have been having a lot of wonderful conversations with advisors lately about how the career center can partner to offer support to students and brainstorming on resources the career center can create to help you in conversations with students. If you ever want to connect, please let me know and we will schedule time.

Have a great week!
Bridget
