The Immigrant Scholarship Hustle is the only program in Arizona that provides post-secondary educational coaching and support specifically for Undocumented students (with and without DACA). The program started in 2017 when a group of immigrant youth and allies set out to change the status quo of what is possible for Undocumented youth in Arizona by providing the guidance that is often not provided to immigrant youth.

The Immigrant Scholarship Hustle (ISH) bridges community, empowerment, and education with, by, and for Undocumented youth

This year, we will be hosting the program virtually as a preventive measure during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. ISH will take place five Saturdays in a row from Saturday, September 25th thru Saturday, October 23rd through Zoom.

Program Dates:

  *   Saturday, October 2 | 11 AM-2:30 PM
  *   Saturday, October 9 | 11 AM-2:30 PM
  *   Saturday, October 16 | 11 AM-2:30 PM
  *   Saturday, October 23 | 11 AM-2:30 PM

Participants will also be expected to attend an orientation on Saturday, September 18th (at 6-7:30pm)

Participants will participate in a series of workshops where they work with educators and peers to apply to at least one scholarship and finish a personal statement for college and/or scholarships. ISH curriculum focuses on 4 areas:

  1.  Writing skills - Program participants develop writing skills and receive one-on-one guidance from educators to write compelling personal statements

  2.  Community building - Connect with peers (and our team) who face similar obstacles and provide a sense of belonging that sustains beyond the program.

  3.  Self Advocacy- activities to empower Undocumented youth to advocate for themselves as they navigate higher education and work opportunities.

  4.  Resources Sharing - Participants will receive resources designed for Undocumented communities throughout the program as well as be connected with a larger network of advocates throughout the state.
