Dear COE Grad Students,

I hope you had a restful and safe summer and are feeling good about returning to your studies.

As you may be aware, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a new, temporary national moratorium on most evictions for nonpayment of rent to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. Many areas of Arizona are experiencing a surge in COVID 19 cases, and therefore the moratorium applies to most of us here in AZ. The Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance<https://home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/coronavirus/assistance-for-state-local-and-tribal-governments/emergency-rental-assistance-program> program has made $46.55 billion available to help renters struggling to pay rent or utilities. States (including the District of Columbia), territories, tribal governments or tribally designated housing entities, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, and local governments with more than 200,000 residents may be administering a program as part of the federal Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance program. You can use the searchable database<https://nlihc.org/rental-assistance> (scroll down to bottom of the page) to find Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance programs near you.

This database is updated three times a week. Note that this list includes only includes programs that are part of the federal Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance program; a more extensive database of emergency rental assistance programs can be found here<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hLfybfo9NydIptQu5wghUpKXecimh3gaoqT7LU1JGc8/edit#gid=79194074>. If you cannot find a program in your area, call 2-1-1 or your local housing authority for assistance.
