UA Communications is looking for graduation stories to pitch to the media. If you have exceptional students that meet the criteria in the email below, will you please send me the following:


  *   Student's name and major
  *   A paragraph or two about the student and what makes him/her stand out
  *   Student's email address and/or phone number

I will confirm with the student that they are OK talking to the media before sending their information to UA News. If they aren’t selected by UA News, I would like to use the stories on the CALS social media accounts.

Hi everyone,



It’s that time again! This is our annual call for good graduation stories from your colleges and departments. We are looking for exceptional students (can be undergraduate or graduate level) in the Class of 2021 whose stories we can pitch to media. In addition to your academic high achievers, here are a few ideas that usually make for compelling stories. We’ve already received media requests for some of these:



  *   Volunteers / active in community outreach
  *   Research participation (Were they published? Even better!)
  *   First-generation graduates
  *   Human interest, i.e. overcoming challenges (especially during the pandemic)
  *   Global element, either international student or studied/interned abroad
  *   Family members earning their degrees together



Please email your ideas to Kyle Mittan, mittank at email.arizona.edu<mailto:mittank at email.arizona.edu>, as soon as possible. Or you can share them via Microsoft Teams, where this message is also posted. We'll be accepting ideas through May 3.



Pitches should include the following:



  *   Student's name and major
  *   A paragraph or two about the student and what makes him/her stand out
  *   Student's email address and/or phone number



Please confirm in advance with the students that they are ok with us sharing their contact info with media, and let us know if they are available for interviews in person or via Skype or Zoom.
