Hi everyone,
Here are the responses from Campus Health!!

#1 If a student has already gotten COVID tested once, are their subsequent tests free as well? In other words is there unlimited free COVID testing for each individual? & does that change if one of their COVID tests was through someone other than Campus Health? Thanks!

From David Salafsky, Co-Executive Director, Campus Health: There is no limit on tests right now, unless they test positive. In that case, they cannot get another test for 90 days typically. Test All Test Smart offers walk in free testing as needed for asymptomatic students and employees and Campus Health offers free testing for those who are symptomatic, though individuals will be responsible for charges to see/talk to a health care provider.

#2 Since we've gone to virtual/remote learning and working with our students, a concern which has emerged is what to do if a student presents with wanting to harm themselves or others. When on campus, the clear protocol included walking the student over to CAPS and facilitating a warm handoff. However, with the current state of affairs, what are the protocols if a student reveals that during a Zoom meeting? A phone call? Is there a training you can recommend? Or are there protocols listed which we can access? Thank you for your assistance!

From Aaron Barnes, Assistant Director of CAPS: Thanks for checking in about this. We have gone completely virtual this semester, although CAPS remains open should need arise (i.e. student is completely unable/unwilling to see someone via zoom, in which case we would utilize a room within CAPS for students to use for zoom appointments). In some ways, it's easier to "walk-in" to CAPS these days since you can click a button to join a meeting with a counselor (see our website for instructions, www.health.arizona.edu/CAPS

Should need arise, a call to CAPS would suffice, and we would work with you to get connected to the student for that warm handoff (either joining a zoom meeting or coordinating over the phone. From our end, intervening with risk sometimes takes a bit of coordination either with folks near the student or with emergency services. Should you have immediate concern for a student's safety, I would advise you to call UAPD first or 911 if they are not on campus. FYI: you can call 911 locally and they will connect you with a student's local police force (even out of state).

Should a student not be open to visiting CAPS, but you remain concerned, we would advise you to contact the Dean of Student's office to file a CARE report so they can follow up. The online form is available here: https://arizona-advocate.symplicity.com/care_report/index.php/pid588706? You can also call their office to submit a verbal report. They will follow up as needed.

All this said, CAPS is always willing to provide a consult and help you think through the unique circumstances of your situation. Just call 520-621-3334. Please let me know if you have any further questions or if you would prefer to speak on the phone

Sincerely,
Dari Trujillo
