Subject: Mandatory Thanksgiving Survey from the Dean of Students

Dear UA Student,

The Thanksgiving travel survey is mandatory to help students establish a plan to mitigate risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus during holiday travel. However, there was an error in the reminder email sent to students on Thursday afternoon. The University will not withhold registration if the survey is not completed. If you do not complete the survey you will be out of compliance but you will not receive a hold on your registration.

If you have not yet completed the survey please do so: log in with your NetID<https://writeback.arizona.edu/ct.asp?id=B5C1E10199FF3574487870C54DB405EA3647B7DE5FD7D69F2C5988AAE5BB57D1572A4223903C00642075335E488F7E6CA4E729F9548BEE0FDDBD569685A7986F&ct=4aeUsz4AAABCWmgzMUFZJlNZoMrfsQAAER%2bAAAGwMAAzCQCrd%2f4wIABIimmh6gDamTT9KeoyFAmJkwEwANmuOaOMSeaRgm%2bVIRxWhdSIALqrfE9rQrplXTmvAvTnUXeeMbDou5IpwoSFBlb9iA%3d%3d> and complete the survey and select the option that best describes your travel plans.

Please contact the COVID Ambassador Team Hotline at 520-848-4045 or covidhelp at email.arizona.edu<https://writeback.arizona.edu/ct.asp?id=2E6479E46C3C431D55C9156B810AE015A2F14B35544F876547D7ED3EEB81C09E5C19ABC4B8D7F585D4673C1C4BBDEAADE1FF520EF5851DF80407AE896E32A37F&ct=4aeUsyIAAABCWmgzMUFZJlNZKorMrgAAC52AAAEAEEAALmfXECAAIiaAyZqGQpkxMgyMW7gAs6D2DCHLqIZxyJmVNsr8XckU4UJAqisyuA%3d%3d> for any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your commitment to the wellbeing of our campus and community.

Bear Down!

The survey will help you think through your holiday travel plans and will direct you to select one travel option most aligned with your plans. Once you select a plan you will be provided testing, isolation and stay at home recommendations. If you are already living outside Tucson, your survey will be completed after responding to the first questions. IN ORDER TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THIS UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENT, YOU MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

  1. Select your travel option: View your three options for Thanksgiving travel and semester completion, and select the one that is best for you and your family before taking the survey.
  2. Complete the Thanksgiving Travel survey: Log in with your NetID and complete the survey.
  3. Make an antigen test appointment: If you indicate that you will be traveling over the Thanksgiving break, you will be directed to schedule an appointment for a university antigen test during the week of Nov. 9 - 15. During this week, university testing will be by appointment only. No walk-ins will be accepted. The timing of this testing blitz is to ensure that anyone testing positive for COVID-19 is able to isolate for 10 days prior to any travel. If you've tested positive in the past 90 days, see additional information below.

Upon completion of the survey, you will receive an email confirming your travel plans and the related testing expectations. If you are currently living on campus, you will receive an additional email from Housing with important information for Thanksgiving & Winter Break, and a request for additional information about your future housing plans.

If you've tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days:
Per CDC guidelines, students who have received a positive PCR, antigen, or antibody test within 90 days do not need further testing or isolation. Students are encouraged to schedule an appointment for a university antibody test through the IRB approved statewide research study. See locations and hours.

The facts about holiday travel:
The holidays present an increased risk to spread COVID-19 because of travel and in-person celebrations with family and friends. The most effective way to reduce this risk is to minimize travel whenever possible. It is imperative that all of us recognize the higher risk of infection posed by travel and take the necessary steps to reduce those risks.

Even if you are not planning to travel outside of Tucson for the Thanksgiving break, we strongly encourage you to sign up for an antibody and/or antigen test. Knowing the results of these tests will enable you to manage your contact with others in a manner that reduces everyone's risk of infection.

It's extremely important to remember that many individuals infected with COVID-19 may not show any symptoms, but can still spread the coronavirus to others who may develop severe, and sometimes fatal, symptoms. Your participation in the Thanksgiving Travel Survey and university testing will help protect yourself, your community, and your family -- especially populations who may be at higher risk of serious complications from COVID-19 infection.
