Subject: [UPAC] FW: Student Center Modernization - Revised Go-Live Date of July 12
Hi everyone,
We recently evaluated the readiness of the Student Center Modernization project for the Go-Live date of May 23rd. We reviewed the outstanding work on the project with an emphasis on the risks and benefits of proceeding with intended timeline. While there are advantages for going live prior to June orientations, many expressed risks of proceeding with this timeline. The last few months has been usually challenging. This time has been filled with unexpected work necessary to transition Spring and Summer classes to remote learning, supporting students with the uncertainty around COVID-19, and added stress dealing with this uncertainty ourselves. A primary concern was to ensure that all of campus is prepared and has the resources necessary to effectively answers questions and guide students within the modernized Student Center. We decided to delay the implementation and focus additional time on communications and training, paying extra attention to staff members who work directly with students.
The new go-live is Sunday, July 12th. This new timeline does allows us to better communicate and prepare campus for the modernized Student Center, but final bug fixes are continuing at the same pace so we can be ‘code complete’ by our original due date. Improvements that have been identified for after go-live will continue with this priority.
I very much appreciate everyone’s hard work on this project and I’m excited to introduce students to a new Student Center experience.
All the best,
Eileen
