Will advisors be copied on any of these emails to students?

Or if they are mail merged, can names be added to the mail merge recipient list?

Subject: [Agvisors] FYI: CALS Orientation Follow-Up Communications

Hello Advisors: CALS is sending follow-up emails to students who’ve attended our Orientation sessions. The first email will be sent to incoming freshmen and their parents who attended a main campus session. A similar email will also be sent to new transfer students and students who completed off-campus orientation. The emails are from Nancy, arrive with a subject line of “6 Need-to-Know Tips for Success!”, and look like the test message below.

A few points for context:

· No single email can, or will, convey all the information that our new students need to know. For that reason, the “6 Need-to-Know Tips for Success!” email is first in a series of transitional communications for incoming students.

· A goal for each email is to be hyper-focused on messaging. This first email is all about students knowing their single most important resource – you!

· Additional messaging will focus on “Top Campus Resources”, CALS First Gen, “Top CALS Events/Series”, among others. For those who volunteered for the communication group – I’ll reach out shortly to schedule a content planning meeting!

· Another goal? Brevity and hyperlinking. Content will be as brief as possible and will always be hyperlinked.

Let me know if you/your students have any questions!

Best,

Gabrielle

[CALS Major Advisors]<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/3yoppp>

1. Know Your Major Advisor

Hi new Wildcats! I'm Nancy Rodriguez-Lorta, Senior Director of Advising and Student Services. Our entire academic advising team--including your major and college advisors--is here to help you succeed.

My first tip: know your major advisor<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/jrpppp>! Write down your major advisor's name, email, phone number & location. Why? They're your go-to resource for questions, information, and more.

If you're undeclared, no problem! We have undecided/exploratory advisors<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/zjqppp> to help you make decisions on what you want to do and how to get there.

Still not sure where to begin? You can also reach out to the CALS Academic Advising center at advising at cals.arizona.edu<mailto:advising at cals.arizona.edu?subject=Orientation%20Follow-Up>--we're always available to you!

2. Get Connected

My next tip? Get connected! We know that as a new student to the University of Arizona you can feel overwhelmed, especially in your first semester. We've found that a great way to ease into college life is by connecting with students who have been where you are now, which is why we created CALS Connections.

Join CALS Connections today at bit.ly/calsconnections<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/v4rppp> and you'll receive an email from our partner, Mentor Collective, guiding you on how get connected with a current CALS student!

3. Be in the Know

Social media is a big part of our everyday lives--you know that! So, it's no surprise that we want to be available to you through every avenue we can be.

That's why we setup @uacals<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/rptppp> on Instagram. We share the student experience, upcoming events, new opportunities and more through our Instagram page, so make sure to follow us<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/7huppp> to stay up-to-date on everything going on across campus!

4. Explore UA Opportunities

In CALS, and across the UA, students have access to almost limitless opportunities including campus jobs, research labs, internships, experiential learning, volunteering, and much more.

To make it easy for you to find your next experience, we use a platform called Handshake. Activate your Handshake account today at arizona.joinhandshake.com<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/32vppp> and download the app to your mobile device so you can discover everything that's available to you!

5. Check Your UA Email

You likely heard this more than once at orientation but my next tip is worth repeating: Check your email frequently!

For vital information, such as priority registration, financial and scholarship deadlines, class status, and faculty and staff correspondence, all other communication at the UA will go through your new UA email.

Learn more about your new account<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/znxppp>, download the Gmail app to your mobile device, and stay in know even when you're on the go!

[New In CALS Student Survey]<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/fgyppp>

6. Tell Us About YOU

Last, but not least, we want to know about you! If you didn't complete our new student survey during orientation, fill it out now at bit.ly/newincals<https://t.e2ma.net/click/r1qb2b/3am76l/v8yppp>.

Feedback from our students is how we make your experience better, so thank you for your participation.

I hope these tips help you feel confident about the upcoming fall semester!

We at CALS are so excited to have you join the family and can't wait for you to start. Until then, keep an eye out for more information (by email--tip #5!) and we'll see you in August at UA Clicks and the CALS New Student Welcome. Bear Down!

Best,

Nancy Rodriguez-Lorta
