[Agvisors] FW: May 31 International Orientation Information and updates

Greetings Agvisors (Kathleen and Danielle this is a follow up to email sent earlier):

This Thursday, May 31 there is a condensed version of the international orientation for international students admitted for summer 2018.  CALS currently has 2 students on the list (in ABEM and ENVS majors).  The students will meet with the advisors at 1pm on Thursday May 31, and will be referred to attend the orientation college meeting to take place on Friday from 10-11:15am.  Out of sequence but students will still be provided with assistance in the process.

This is being sent to all Agvisors as a reference and in case there are major changes that take place.  If you end up with a student in your office not currently in a CALS major, please refer them to Forbes 203 so we can provide them with a college packet and general information.

We have a short busy week ahead of us.  Tomorrow we have our second main campus FR orientation and another one on Friday June 1.

If you have not followed up on the probation report information sent last week please do so at your earliest convenience.

Subject: May 31 International Orientation Information

Hi everyone,

Thank you all in advance for assisting our summer-admitted students. Here is information regarding the May 31 Summer Orientation.

Advising
Students will meet with ISS in the morning and be released by 12:30 pm to meet with their departments starting at 1 pm.

Registration
Students will have orientation service indicators lifted at 9 am on Thursday, May 31st. If a student has an immigration service indicator on their account (R16), this means that they have an immigration issue and will need to resolve that issue before they can register.

Students will be given enrollment appointments for summer and fall, but not preschedules.

Immigration Information
Students starting in the summer must enroll and remain enrolled, in 6 in-person or hybrid units during the summer. The units must follow the rules below:

  *   At least 3 units must be in the session that starts on June 4
  *   The remaining 3 units can be taken in the sessions that begin June 4, July 2 or July 9
  *   Only in-person and hybrid classes count towards full-time enrollment. If they want to also take online classes (iCourses), you must take them in addition to 6 in-person or hybrid units.
  *   They cannot enroll in classes at Pima Community College over the summer.
We will be reviewing this information in the morning. The students have also been emailed this information prior to their arrival.

I anticipate we will have some cancellations, so will send out an updated list the morning of orientation. If you have any questions, please let me know.
