[Agvisors] May 18 Transfer Student Orientation Information

Greetings Agvisors:

This email contains detailed information on the Transfer orientation taking place tomorrow Friday May 18. CALS has 23 students signed up to attend.  Below is general information from the UA Orientation office.

Attached are the following:

*        May18,2018 CALS Student RosterTR (excel) = General CALS student roster

*        2018.05.18 Schedule (pdf) = TR Student Schedule for the day

*        2018.05.18 Sessions Grid (pdf) = TR Student Schedule Sessions Grid

*        Transfer Orientation May 18, 2018 (excel) = CALS Advisor listed to advise starting at 12pm for each major with student names. If you need to update your times refer to the Box folder link. When you open it make sure you do not download it; instead select "Open" and select "Microsoft Excel Online" by opening it this way it automatically saves the information from the Box folder: https://arizona.box.com/s/cl5o704i2tn0q2zggdp2ez2iei1ub5sh

Students will be assigned to an advising slot based on the excel sheet that Amanda created (some of you have already assigned a student to a time slot - thanks).  PLEASE keep additional times open in case students change majors.  We also have students listed as "no major selected" that may have an idea in mind so we plan to also refer then appropriately.  Let us know what other alternatives you have on how you would like us to refer students that change last minute.

As a reminder the registration lab will be at the SUMC lower level - OSCR Computer Lab. Orientation leaders will be available to assist them with  UAccess. Math, Writing and Second Language representatives will also be available to answer questions at this location.

Hello everyone,

Our next Transfer Student Orientation is tomorrow, Friday, May 18. This session has a total of 112 students and 44 guests, representing incoming students in CALS, Eller, Engineering, and SBS. We have two students who are in the session due to major changes, one in Fine Arts and one in Science. We are working individually with these students and their colleges to provide academic information to supplement our other Orientation programming; these colleges will not have a college meeting or advising appointments. If any additional students are looking to change major into one of the colleges that is not present, we will contact the applicable college representative to discuss advising options for the day or a future date.

The program schedule and roster is attached to this email for your reference. Please note that we have made some changes to the schedule based off of feedback from our first two sessions. We will be telling students that it is mandatory to attend at least two conference sessions prior to checking out. As a result, our check-out now starts at 1:30pm. We've also adjusted the timing and number of offerings for some conference sessions. Finally, we have renamed the "Change of Schedule" session to "Class Registration Assistance" to more accurately reflect its purpose, and have moved the session to the OSCR lab on the lower level of the SUMC for convenience.

Please send any students or guests in need to assistance to the Diamond Atrium prior to 9:30am or the Transfer Student Center after 9:30am for help from the New Student Services staff. Thank you all for your important involvement in the program!
