Subject: [UPAC] Beginning of Semester Reminders from the ISS Office

Hello everyone!

Below are updates and reminders from the ISS office:

· Students can now request Concurrent Enrollment<https://global.arizona.edu/international-students/full-time-enrollment-undergraduate-students> at Pima through an e-form in UA International<https://uainternational.arizona.edu>! Advisor approval will only be required for sponsored students, and you will receive an email with a direct link to the e-form after your student submits the request. Read below for a description of additional changes depending on student type.

o Sponsored Students: Approval for concurrent enrollment is class-specific. Due to sponsor requirements, students must provide academic advisor contact information in the e-form to confirm that the requested classes will transfer to the UA and satisfy degree requirements.

o Non-Sponsored Students: Approval for concurrent enrollment is not class-specific, and will be granted one semester at a time.

· ISS will host a meeting on Thursday, January 18 from 3-4 pm in the Sabino Room, Student Union to assess the spring 2018 international orientation program.

· International students should be enrolled full-time<https://global.arizona.edu/international-students/full-time-enrollment> and cannot have an excess of online courses or they will jeopardize their immigration status. Hybrid courses are counted as in-person units.

o Undergraduate students: 12 units - at least 9 units must be in-person

§ If an undergraduate international student needs to be administratively dropped from a course due to nonattendance, please contact ISS<mailto:intl-dso at email.arizona.edu> for assistance.

o Graduate students: 9 units - at least 6 units must be in-person (Graduate students with assistantship can have 6 units with 3 units in-person)

· ISS and the THINK TANK are once again offering a 7-week international student workshop series, Let's Talk About: A Culture and Conversation series<https://global.arizona.edu/international-students/lets-talk-about>. Topics include American culture, classroom participation, academic skills, writing, public speaking and presentation skills, and career prep.

· We are accepting Global Ambassador Applications<https://global.arizona.edu/international-students/ua-global-ambassador> for students interested in bridging cultures between American and international students and serving as ambassadors for the global community on campus. Applications are due February 2. We have received great referrals from UA staff-please continue to spread the word! :)

For any questions about the information above, please email me directly.

Thank you,
Noelle
