Hi all, and Happy New Year!
As part of the continued Advisement Report (ADVIP) cleanup initiative, Curricular Affairs is focusing on the Graduation Requirements section, specifically the Major Units and Major Upper Division Units lines. We’re aiming to have the Graduation Requirements section of each major display actual minimum required totals, based on the requirement lines within the major/minor. It’s important that this section serve as an accurate reflection and summary of the major requirements; this will be especially useful to students once Degree Map is active.
During this year’s ADVIP update, we will be checking these lines for accuracy and making edits as needed, which will be sent to departments for review and final approval - please double-check our count. Many ADVIPs already have accurate minimums for the Graduation Requirements, so you may not see a change.
Of course, there may be cases when a course has been waived or a lower-division course is substituted for an upper-division, which would impact students satisfying the Graduation Requirements lines. In those cases, advisors can also make an exception to the lines within Graduation Requirements if the department sees fit.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Stephanie Carlson (scarlson at email.arizona.edu<mailto:scarlson at email.arizona.edu>) or Abbie Sorg (asorg at email.arizona.edu<mailto:asorg at email.arizona.edu>).
Best,
Stephanie Carlson
