Greetings Agvisors team,
Hope you are all doing great. Please don't forget to upload your notes of the non-registered student list (excel sheet available in Box). Thanks to all that have followed up.
I am also reaching out as it has been brought to my attention of unavailable times for students to schedule appointments via wise advise. What is the protocol if students need to get a hold of advisors this week? Not that there will be an influx, but it would be appreciated to have a welcoming plan as there are some students that may be considering a change into one of your majors; have follow up questions on their academic standing since most grades have posted, etc. It is common for the Advising Resource Center staff and other campus advisors to refer students to the ARC site which refers students to schedule appointments via wiseadvise. You are all a great team that values student support and would be a disservice to have a misperception (lack of availability) come across as reality. I'll make the CAS college advising team (Amanda, Juliana, Serena and Maria) aware as well or you can reach us all through one address: advising at cals.arizona.edu<mailto:advising at cals.arizona.edu>
The CAS college advising team will be available through Friday 12/21 at 3pm. During the closure (12/24 through 12/1) students that call the main advising line (520-621-3616) will be referred to leave a detailed message or to email advising at cals.arizona.edu<mailto:advising at cals.arizona.edu> (the CAS advising team gets these emails - I'll be on call during the closure in particular for winter session students and urgent matters that cannot wait until Jan. 2). Phone messages will be checked twice a day (~ 12pm and 5pm). Our goal is to continue offering the best service and support to students. We welcome any other best practices and suggestions the team may have. In the interim, during our regular business week (this week and week of Jan. 2) please offer availability to students and let them know of the college availability as well. Advisors are highlighted as the frontline contacts for students and we want to continue strengthening those relationships to support students holistically.
Let's maintain our reputation of our student-centered approaches. Thanks to all for your assistance.
I'm available to answer any questions or concerns. Thank you once again to all. For those of you that the privilege of hearing the student speaker at the commencement on Saturday, it served as yet another reminder the difference we all make as a community. We have great students that turn obstacles into opportunities - as we can all attest to. Gracias!
Best,
Nancy

Thank you for your email! I am out of the office and will return on January 2nd. Below you may find helpful tips. Please read through the whole thing and send a follow-up response if you feel that you need additional assistance not provided below.
This year from December 22nd through January 1st, many offices at the University of Arizona are limited in their activities due to the winter closure. During this time, your faculty, staff, and professional academic advisors may be away, and we hope that you are able to do the same as you prepare . However, we do understand that time-sensitive academic issues can arise during this period. Below are common issues and frequently asked questions that will hopefully provide enough information for self-service during this time. If you are unable to find an answer with the content below, please feel free to send a follow-up response to advising at email.arizona.edu<mailto:advising at email.arizona.edu> You are strongly encouraged to read through this message in its entirety first.
Detailed phone messages may also be left at 520-621-3616 which will be checked twice during the day (~12pm and 5pm). Urgent matters will be responded to within 24 hours.
Degree checks for Spring and Summer 2019 graduates can be handled in January.
If you were on academic probation going into the Fall 2018 term and have concerns about your academic standing, please send me a follow-up email to indicate you need additional help not provided so that I know your response is urgent. Email Nancy Rodriguez Lorta nancyr at email.arizona.edu<mailto:nancyr at email.arizona.edu> and copy your major advisor on the email. Briefly convey the nature of your challenges, and indicate your plans/ideas for getting back on track during the spring semester. Any communication from you will be taken into consideration before disqualification decisions are finalized during the first week of January.
