Greetings Agvisors:
Attached is a list of CALS students by major that could benefit from an outreach nudge from their academic advisor. Below is a general template you can use (modify as you would like or send something else - other ideas further below).
If you have any concerns or follow up information on any of the students please let me know how I may assist. Thank you in advance and look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Best,
Nancy

Subject line: It is mid-semester and priority registration time
Hi {Student Name},
I hope the semester is going well for you and that you're enjoying all of your classes. I just wanted to touch base with you to see if there were any questions I could help answer or any academic concerns you would like assistance with. I know it's getting to crunch time with midterms and registration for next semester coming up in the next few weeks, so if there is anything I could do to help make the registration process or academic success this semester a little easier, I would be happy to help! Feel free to reach out to me by email or come in to see me during my walk in hours if you have anything you'd like to discuss. You can find my walk in advising hours schedule here<https://wiseadvising.arizona.edu/student/login.php>.
All the best,
[Academic Advisor Name]

Your help requested - Make a difference for your students
Dear Colleagues:
It is my privilege to join the student success and retention efforts at the University of Arizona. New to campus, I have already witnessed great dedication, hard work, and commitment to undergraduate success. Faculty, advisors, learning specialists, and staff throughout the University are providing scaffolding and supports to promote student thriving. Your incredible efforts are paying off: this year's first-time, full-time retention rate exceeded expectations coming in at 83.3% (above ABOR goal). This growth is a testament to all you have done. Now it is time to keep the momentum moving forward and help even more students persist on their path to degree completion.
Attached is a list of students who could benefit from hearing from you. This list, derived from our predictive modeling system, identifies students in your college who are likely to be experiencing challenge and may be in need of your attention, expertise and care. Please send a message of support and affirmation to these students. Messages do not have to be long. In fact, research shows that personalized but brief, supportive nudges are the most effective.
Your messages might do the following:
* Invite students for one-on-one or group advising
* Share campus resources such as Think Tank<https://thinktank.arizona.edu/> and Academic Success & Achievement<https://asa.arizona.edu/>
* Promote a growth mindset<https://i.pinimg.com/736x/be/56/4d/be564d27cc4b964710166b3526ac58ec--growth-mindset-posters-growth-mindset-vs-fixed-mindset.jpg> and a sense of belonging<https://ucat.osu.edu/bookshelf/teaching-topics/shaping-a-positive-learning-environment/sense-of-belonging-in-the-college-classroom/>
* Normalize help-seeking behaviors; reminding students that the most successful students go to faculty office hours and use campus resources
Letting your students know that you care about them and want to see them succeed is enormously helpful. As is letting students know that challenge is an important part of education and true learning comes when we embrace challenge, welcome feedback and ask for help.
In the upcoming days and weeks, many students will receive midterm progress grades. This provides another opportunity for colleges to assess overall student progress and connect with students.
I value and appreciate your partnership in this important work to support the success of all students at the University of Arizona. If we have not yet met, I hope to spend time together in the near future. Please do not hesitate to reach out - I welcome your feedback, collaboration and sharing of best practices.
Sincerely,
Cynthia
