CALS First Gen Success Meet and Greet
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) first generation students are invited to attend a meet and greet with CALS Dean, faculty and staff who are also first generation and/or advocates and share common experiences.

Did you know that CALS has many first-generation student supporters? Well yes we do!  Many current CALS administrators, faculty, staff and Dean went through college as first generation students and recall feeling overwhelmed while thinking that the transition to college would be easy.
In CALS human connections are valued.  We are here to listen to you and also share how we overcame the challenges that shape who we are today.
We want to get to know you better and help you connect on campus and in the college. You are invited to join Dean Burgess and other first-generation faculty, staff and advocates for a meet and greet in an informal setting. You can stop by at a time that is convenient for you.
Wednesday, November 29th
5:00-7:00pm
Forbes Lobby (CALS own backyard)
Finger foods and light refreshments will be provided

UA defines a first-generation college student as one:

  *   whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) has not completed a four-year bachelor’s degree;
  *   whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a country outside of the United States;
  *   who has separated or divorced parents and the parent with primary custody, or with whom the student lives with a majority of the time, does not have a bachelor’s degree;
  *   who was/is a homeless youth, in the foster care system, or a ward of the state.
