You are receiving this information as part of the notification of the Independent Professional Seed Association’s Scholarship Program.

We appreciate all the applicants we have received thus far for the 2017 IPSA Scholarship Program. Today, the Education Committee voted to extend the deadline for applications.

Both high school seniors and active college students majoring in Agriculture are encouraged to apply. Preference is given to Science related fields (Agronomy, Crop, Soil, Engineering), and Business fields (Agriculture Business, Economics, Marketing), but all Agriculture Majors are encourage to apply. Awards are given in 3 areas:

  1. Myron "Ted" Asplin Foundation Scholarship - This scholarship was created by the Asplin family of Dassel, MN in memory of Myron "Ted" Asplin. Preference will be given to high school seniors pursuing an ag-related degree.
  2. IPSA Student Recognition Award - The IPSA Student Recognition Award was created in 1997 from funds donated by the Independent Corn Breeders Association. Preference will be given to active college students pursuing ag-related fields.
  3. Buckhorn Scholarship - This scholarship was created by Buckhorn, Inc. to benefit the future of Agriculture. Preference will be given to active college students pursuing ag-related fields.
Selection will be based on a combination of academic achievement, community and agricultural involvement. All applications will be reviewed by the Education Committee and the Board of Directors of the Independent Professional Seed Association. Final candidates will be invited to an online interview and awards given at the 2018 IPSA Annual Conference in Indianapolis, IN.

All Scholarship Awards will be $2,000 per successful applicant. Previous award winners and applicants are also encouraged to reapply. IPSA will present a minimum of 5 Awards in 2017. The Deadline for applications is 5 PM, Central Standard Time, Friday, April 14, 2017.
