Hello everyone,

Our programs to welcome new domestic freshman and transfer students take place over the next three days, so I wanted to make sure you have the most up-to-date information in one email as a reference. Additionally, there is one important update to Next Steps Center of which to be aware.

Next Steps Center

·         Beginning this semester, students will now be able to access Next Steps Center through the first week of the semester (previously access closed on the first day of class). This is intended to ease the transition for late admits and arrivals who still need to complete required steps like placement exams or form submission.

Transfer Student Welcome (note: just a welcome event not an orientation. The final TR orientation for CALS was today Jan. 6. Any last minute changes will be referred to Forbes 203 for general information and to the major advisor for specific advising information/course selection)

·         Takes place Saturday, January 7 with check-in from 7:30-8:25 a.m. in the Diamond Atrium of the SUMC. The full schedule is attached.

·         Throughout the program we will have an information table in the Diamond Atrium; students with questions can be referred there.

·         This is an optional program for transfer students to familiarize them with campus resources and provide an opportunity to meet others.

·         We will accept walk-in participants and there is no fee for the program.

·         We have 433 students registered for the program.

New Student Orientation (note: Freshman – advising is schedule at 2:30pm)

·         Takes place Monday, January 9 with check-in from 8:00-8:45 a.m. in the Diamond Atrium of the SUMC. The full schedule is attached.

·         Throughout the program we will have an information table in the Diamond Atrium; students with questions can be referred there.

·         This is a required program for freshman students to meet with academic colleges, register for spring courses, and learn UA basics.

·         We host a concurrent program for parents and other family members (second page of schedule). Guests can register on-site for a fee of $100.

·         We have 161 students and 54 guests registered for the program.
