[Agvisors] Free Snacks!!! and DL50 Nominations

Hi Everyone,

I know you are busy working to get things ready before classes begin next week.

First, I would like to invite you all to the CALS Career Center/DL50 Welcome Back Event Monday between 10am and 2pm in the Forbes Lobby.  This is open to all CALS students and of course advisors.  We will have sweets from Beyond Bread, and a popcorn bar as well as drinks.

Second, as the semester begins we will be looking for new members of the Dean's Leadership 50, and have had great success when departments nominate students.  To remind you the DL50 is one of CALS 3 Leadership programs, it focuses on the development of entrepreneurship and management skills for students in all CALS majors.  It is open to any student enrolled in a CALS major (freshmen will be considered but we prefer sophomore and above) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.  Since you know your students better than anyone we ask that you consider nominating up to 3 students for membership in the DL50 by Aug. 30th.  Those nominated will receive special consideration in the selection process, but are not 100% guaranteed admission.  Nominees will still have to complete the online application as well as submit a cover letter and resume.

So what do we need from you after you have identified these amazing students?  We need you to submit the names of your nominees with their UA email addresses.  After that Dari and I will take over the process of inviting the students to complete the application (which is due by Sept. 5th).

In the case you have more than 3 extraordinary students we are also taking self-nominated students for application.
