Greetings Agvisors:

Hope priority registration advising has been going well for all! The October Agvisor meeting will take place on Wednesday the 26th from 11am-1pm at McPark 402. Send your lunch selection from Jimmy John's<https://www.jimmyjohns.com/menu/#/> and beverage selection (water, coke, diet coke) to Maria Bueno by Tuesday 10/25 at noon. Lunch will be delivered by 11am.

We will have advising specific agenda items from 11am-12pm and at noon we will have guest speakers join us. The guests are Meredith Aronson (Manager of Integrated Advising Analytics), Pam Coonan (Executive Director for Academic and Curricular Affairs in the Provost's office) and Heather Jepsen (Senior Business Analyst - CALS liaison with IT applications). Associate Dean Staten also invited HODS (or a curriculum representative from each major) to also join us from 12-1pm. The presentation discussion will focus on the upcoming ADVIP clean-up project that will take place university wide. ASC and PSY will be pilot majors in the early stages of this project. Having attended an initial meeting with ASC it will be helpful if you bring your own major check sheets and a copy of your current Advisement Report. The discussion may have us all referring to the documents.

Below is an overview of what Associate Dean Staten sent the Department Heads and School Directors regarding the presentation discussion from 12-1pm on 10/26:
What we are offering to people going in is a summary of the current exceptions/substitutions to help direct folks to where changes are taking time, and to be able to separate the transfer issues from other issues. In addition, we are close to having the requisite and "typically offered" data, which we will also send out prior to the cleanup meeting. Preparations are simply to review what is there, and to examine additional issues in the ADVIPS that need to be addressed. Pam's team will do analysis prior and offer suggestions of best practices, etc.....I strongly recommend that you or one of your UG curriculum committee members attend. The guest speakers will be Meredith Aronson (Manager of Integrated Advising Analytics) and Pam Coonan (Executive Director for Academic and Curricular Affairs in the Provost's office)....Thanks for your help with this. Depending on what our advisors tell us about bottlenecks within units, this could be a significant task for each department's UG curriculum committee to complete this academic year as a critical step toward the UA meeting its student retention goals.

On a side, there will also be a brown bag discussion from 12:05-1pm on Tuesday 10/25. The discussion topic will be on advising best practices during priority registration. Dessert will be provided but feel free to bring your lunch as well.

Please keep me posted if you have any questions. Look forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday (if available) and Wednesday.

Best,
Nancy
