[Agvisors] FW: Wildcat Academy 2016-17 update

Good afternoon Agvisors:

The Wildcat Academy Program will take place again this Fall term. Attached is a general information sheet for those of you that did not attend the general orientation information sessions.

Some confusion has arisen from both students and advisors (with good reason) being that CALS students that qualify will be enrolled in a 3 unit course, SBS100X (with course title of : Success in SBS - Wildcat Academy).  A course title change has been requested to be more inclusive of this university wide initiative, but am unsure when this will take place.  All students that qualify for the WA program are to attend an 8:15am session the day of orientation.  Students are reminded of this session by phone the day prior each orientation and via email.  If they missed the session refer them to the Integrated Learning Center computer area to speak with Jen Ludwig between 3-5pm.

I will keep you informed as more information is sent.

I hope you had a nice weekend! I am writing to update you on the 2016-2017 Wildcat Academy (WA) Program.  WA will be serving approximately 1,400 students, about 1,000 more than last year. The program will be based on incoming academic characteristics, rather than writing placement, this year.  Attached you will find a detailed outline of the program and structured components.  We have a distinctive UA first year experience planned for this cohort of students.  As always, your role is very important in assisting us in communicating the benefits of the program to students and their families.  The program will be run out of our Academic Success & Achievement area and Christine Salvesen and Jen Ludwig will oversee the daily components in conjunction with our college partners.  They will be providing an overview at OAC on Tuesday, May 17th. You are also welcome to contact them directly, please see below.  If you prefer they come visit with you and your team, that can also be arranged.
