This summer break, Global Student Embassy University of Arizona invites you to join in a trip to Boaco, Nicaragua. Sow seeds and dig in the dirt alongside local environmentalists as we develop sustainable agriculture projects at a non-profit clinic outside of Boaco, and spend tranquil evenings listing to the howlers from the ranch hotel. Finish up the trip with a few days relaxing at a volcanic crater lake called Laguna de Apoyo, or at famous Playa Gigante on Nicaragua’s Gold Coast. Have you taken a class from a FANTASTIC professor who deserves to have their awesomeness recognized across campus? Then consider nominating him or her for the Five Star Faculty Award.

The Five Star Faculty Award is the oldest student-nominated faculty award at the University of Arizona, having started in 1983. Even better, it’s the only award selected only by students! A student committee will review nominations and select five amazing professors as finalists for this award. These incredible teachers then take part in interviews to help the committee decide which one should receive this year’s prestigious award. The cherry on top? The four runners-up receive a prize of $250 each, and the winner will receive $1,000 and be recognized at the UA Awards of Excellence Ceremony in April 2016.

If you are interested in nominating one of your professors (past or present), please click on this link: http://bit.ly/1USZ23b (http://www.honors.arizona.edu/faculty-and-advisors/five-star-faculty-award-nomination)

Nominations are open until February 14th.

The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence in undergraduate teaching. All students are weclome to submit nominations - the nominee must be a faculty member teaching an undergraduate this semester.
