Greetings Agvisors:
Please see email below and send me any feedback you have regarding the current Academic Renewal policy by Friday 2/19.
I do not think it should be eliminated since something should be in place for currently enrolled students working towards it. If it is eliminated it should be catalog specific vs. it being grandfathered to all catalog years. You will notice on the attached clean slate proposal we, as advisors, will need to discuss this option with students when seeking readmission.
I'll compile the feedback and suggestions on behalf of CALS and send to Roxie. Thanks in advance.
Best,
Nancy

Subject: [uaac] UGC Update and a Request
Dear UAAC:
Good news! Our proposal to remove supporting course work from the major description was approved. Also, the revised Clean Slate Readmission Program proposal was passed. (Copy of the proposal attached.) It was a great meeting.
Without going into detail, the Academic Renewal policy is still in place and there was considerable discussion about eliminating it; however, eliminating the AR policy was removed from the proposal at a previous meeting. Discussion about the merits of keeping the AR policy will be on the next Policy Sub-Committee agenda in two weeks.
We know the AR policy is time consuming and fraught with misunderstandings and confusion. I would like to have some anecdotal examples to bring to the policy sub-committee meeting regarding Academic Renewal, how it has worked, not worked, etc. Please ask advisors in your colleges as well.
Finally, please remember that there are additional steps in the approval process for these proposals just passed by UGC No academic policy becomes the law of the land until it clears Faculty Senate.
I hope you have a great day!
Roxie
