November 11, 2015: Veteran's Day, no classes. University offices are closed.
November 17, 2015: $125.00 Unpaid Tuition Charge applied for unpaid tuition due 10/26/15.
November 26 - 29, 2015: Thanksgiving Recess, no classes.
December 9, 2015: LAST DAY OF CLASSES. No registration changes can be made after the last day of classes. Last day for complete withdrawal. Last day to submit a $25.00 Drop Fee Appeal form. Last day to submit a $250.00 Late Registration Fee appeal.
Spring 2016 Priority Registration Dates
November 9 - 15, 2015: Freshman - You will be able to register beginning at 6am on 11/9/15 through 8pm on 11/15/15.

November 16, 2015: Registration open to all degree seeking continuing students for registration adds, drops, and changes.

November 18, 2015: Registration open to all degree seeking readmits and transfers for registration adds, drops, and changes.

December 18, 2015: Registration open to all non-degree seeking undergraduate students.

Tickets will be issued the week of December 7^th and there will be no limit to guest invites.

Sustainability Career Panel & Networking Event

This career and networking panel is for students interested in finding out how to turn an interest in sustainability into a career. Sustainability careers can run the gamut from small operations exclusively focused on extreme recycling to specialized departments in large corporations seeking to reduce their organization’s carbon footprint. Find out how you can earn some green while promoting green alternatives at this informative panel.

You can look forward to meeting:
Kevin Thornton ('94 Civic Engineering) with over 20 years in transportation engineering, his experience includes working for the Federal Lands program at the Federal Highway Administration and serving as Marana’s Assistant Director of Public Works. For the past 9 years, he has been a Senior Project Manager with Psomas and was named the Director of Sustainability in 2015. Kevin is accredited with the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure and Greenroads as a sustainability professional.

Melissa Amarello (’05 Wildlife, Watershed, and Rangeland Resources) is Communications Associate at the Center for Biological Diversity (Population and Sustainability Program), and has 10 years’ experience communicating through a variety of media (research and technical papers, grant writing, social media, blogs, and more) on conservation and environmental science topics. Melissa has an MS in Biology and has also worked at The Nature Conservancy. She has established a non-profit to promote compassionate conservation and coexistence with snakes.

Ben Champion is UA’s Office of Sustainability Director. He is committed to student engagement through sustainability initiatives and to advancing the UA’s performance as a leader in higher ed sustainability. Ben earned his doctorate in geography in 2007 from the University of Oxford and received a bachelor’s in chemistry and environmental science from Kansas State University in 2002, where he was awarded a Udall Scholarship for environmental leadership and a Rhodes Scholarship. In his off-time, Ben is a foodie and an avid bicyclist.

Danielle K. Fidel ('04 Physiology) is Director of Commercial Solar at Technicians for Sustainability, a Tucson-based, mission-driven company specializing in renewable energy systems for residential and commercial settings. Danielle got her BHS in Physiological Sciences from the UA and a Masters of Public Health in Environmental Health Sciences from Columbia. An avid organic gardener, she lives with PV, rainwater harvesting, and greywater systems and enjoys mountain biking with her husband and two-year-old daughter.

A UA Student Services fee grant has made this career panel/networking event series possible. Seating is limited and food and beverage is included free!

This course is one in a three course series on meaningful learning and engagement at the college level. The overall purpose of this series is to introduce students to theories of learning, motivation, and identity development from an Educational Psychology perspective. Students will explore how these theories describe and explain aspects of their own academic lives. Students will also have the opportunity to actively develop their skills for engaging in meaningful learning and participation within their university communities. The focus of this course is to examine the relationship between knowledge and learning and explore the topics of curiosity, knowledge construction, and strategic thinking.

Spend 10 weeks in the Czech Republic conducting research under the mentorship of scientists at the Institute of Parasitology at the Czech Academy of Sciences (http://www.paru.cas.cz/en (http://www.paru.cas.cz/en/) ) in the city of Ceske Budejovice!
Research areas include protistology, helminthology, medical entomology, and more. This experience also includes a professional development seminar and cultural activities.

Participants in this program will receive round trip airfare from Arizona to the Czech Republic, room and board for 10 weeks, supplemental health insurance for the time spent abroad, and a stipend.

Prozkoumat! participants are required to take two courses during the spring 2016 semester in preparation for the trip:

National Collegiate Leadership Conference 2016
The National Collegiate Leadership Conference (NCLC) is an annual, student-run conference that serves as the cornerstone of the leadership experience and training for hundreds of college students across the nation. The conference extends beyond the conventional definitions of leadership and is designed to help students tap into and expand their leadership potential, helping them grow both personally and professionally. Each year, over 600 participants from universities and colleges in over 20 states attend  NCLC to learn about leadership.

Who Should Attend:
The conference is open to all current and emerging college student leaders and advisors. If you are interested in college level, student leadership development opportunity, then NCLC is for you!

UROC-PREP and STAR
Is graduate school preparation on your to do list? Then apply now for the UROC-PREP or STAR program!

SPRING 2016: Students begin the program in the spring semester and enroll in a 3 unit reading and writing intensive course: GRAD 492: Directed Research, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 am to 9:15 am (no exceptions).

SUMMER 2016: Students work with a UA faculty mentor on a small scale research project in their field of study; complete a written research report, research poster, and oral presentation; are paid a $4,000 summer research stipend; complete GRE preparation and testing; have their abstract published in the UROC Abstract Review and more. For the summer, a full‐time commitment to all activities is expected of all students (no exceptions).

FALL 2016: Students are registered for a 1 unit graduate school preparation course, complete and submit applications to graduate school. For fall, all students must attend GRAD 496A: The Graduate School Application Process, Fridays, 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm (no exceptions).

The Concussion Study-- a one day study that involves neuropsychological assessments along with a variety of brain scans. Eligible participants will receive $200 for full completion of all study activities.
We are looking for individuals ages 18-45 who had a head injury or concussion in the past year. They must be right-handed, have no metal in their body, and speak English as a primary language.

The Light Exposure Concussion Treatment Study-- is a longitudinal, 13-week treatment study that involves in-home use of a light device in the morning as well as four visits to the University of Arizona that include neuropsychological assessments along with several brain scans. Eligible participants will receive $1,000 for full completion of all study activities.
We are looking for individuals ages 18-50 who had a head injury or concussion in the past 18 months. They must be right-handed, have no metal in their body, and speak English as a primary language.

RICHARD A. HARVILL GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP

The mission of the Richard A. Harvill Endowment is to perpetuate knowledge of Dr. Harvill, who served as UA president from 1951 to 1971, a period in which UA began its furious post-war enrollment growth, and the institution took its place among the leading research universities of the west.

The award targets University of Arizona senior undergraduates, domestic or international, who have completed a bachelor's degree at the UA in May 2016, have an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher, and have been admitted to a PhD program at the UA for Fall 2016.
The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of $12,000, disbursed in two equal payments between the fall and spring terms and a Graduate Tuition Scholarship that covers base graduate level tuition (not the differential tuition assessed by some programs) for each semester of award.

Award amount:
$12,000 plus full base tuition (excludes mandatory registration fees and student health insurance) for one year only.
