Dates and Deadlines
Mar 10: Change of Schedule form with Instructor's permission to add of change classes in accepted until end of business day
March 11: W All Change of Schedule forms to add or change classes require not only the Instructor's signature indicating permission but all the Dean's signature. By policy, permission from the Dean to make a registration change at this time requires an extraordinary reason. UAccess is still available to withdraw online through March 24th
March 14-22: Spring Recess
March 31: Last day to withdraw online through UAccess. Complete withdrawal is still available through last day of classes
April 1: Course withdrawals may be processed only with the approval of the student's College Dean on a Late Change Petition now through April 14th. Students must have an extra ordinary reason for approval.

The University of Arizona chapter of Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society is proud to offer a number of different scholarships and awards to sophomore and junior students.
Completed Applications are due to the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership (CSIL) front office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday March 23rd, 2015. The CSIL office is located on the 4th Floor of SUMC.
MORTAR BOARD SCHOLARSHIP
Established in 1983, the scholarship is awarded annually to an individual who most exemplifies the qualities that Mortar Board demands of its own members: outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service to both the University of Arizona and the community. Both men and women with sophomore standing (completed 30-60 units) and pursuing any undergraduate major are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The award may amount up to $500.

JODY WINN-ODEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This award was established in 1984 in memory of Jody Winn-Oden, a pre-medical student and member of Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society, who was tragically killed that year in a car accident. Both men and women with junior standing (completed >60 units) pursuing a pre-medical curriculum or majoring in nursing are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Selection will be based upon the ability to convey outstanding character, leadership, and service, as well as sincere dedication to the healthcare profession. The award amount is at least $500.

The Department of Nutritional Sciences, University of Arizona's Mediterranean Diet & Health Study Abroad Program offers a summer class in Verona, Italy, a beautiful and historic Northern Italian city. The syllabus includes discussions of the epidemiological and preclinical evidence related to the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet against chronic diseases (cancer, obesity, diabetes, etc) as well hands-on culinary experiences with Italian chefs and food experts. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the approach to food preparation, agriculture and community-based cultural activities characteristic to the Mediterranean region. Excursions include meetings with food producers, visits to olive oil, pasta, and cheese processing plants as well as touring of historic sites including the Roman downtown of Verona, and opportunities to attend musical and opera events. Verona is located in close proximity to Venice, Milan, and Florence.
This 6-credit course is designed for students who have minimum sophomore standing, junior, and senior students in nutritional sciences, biological, physiological and related biomedical and social sciences, as well as undergraduate students who have a comparable background in the science and health fields.
This unique program begins on May 18th 2015 with coursework at the University of Arizona in Tucson, then continues from May 24 through June 20th, 2015 in Verona, Italy. Students not residing in Tucson during the first week will have the option of online participation.

SPAN - Second Seven Week SPAN 101 & 102
The Spanish department is offering SPAN 101 and 102 during the second seven week session starting March 9th. This is beneficial for students who were not able to enroll before the deadline for a regular session section or those who just simply need a fresh start. The EEB Undergraduate Research Poster Session will be held Wednesday, April 15^th from 1-3 pm on the 2^nd and 3^rd floors of Life Sciences South. This is your chance to present your research to your peers, to your department and to faculty from various life science fields. All EEB and Biology majors and minors, as well as any UA students doing current research with EEB faculty are invited to present a poster.
If you are doing letter graded ECOL research units or an honors thesis, please plan to present at this session.

Project SOAR (Fall HED 350; Spring HED 397B): (mailto:coe.arizona.edu/soar) a service-learning course that places undergraduate mentors at under-resourced middle schools in Tucson. Mentors meet with the middle school youth weekly, addressing the following topics:
-Academic strengths
-Self-esteem
-Conflict resolution
-Career exploration
-College search process
STEM Project SOAR (Fall HED 350 Section 3; Spring HED 397B Section 3): (mailto:facebook.com/UAProjectSOAR) STEM major undergraduate students will act as experts in their STEM field to mentor their STEM interested middle school mentee. In addition to the traditional curriculum of Project SOAR, the STEM undergraduates will learn STEM and Possible Selves activities to administer with their middle school mentee. Possible Selves is a theoretical framework addressing three perceptions:
-What I want to become
-What I think I actually will become
-What I am afraid I will become
Benefits of STEM SOAR: STEM majors and careers are challenging to enter for all students, but especially for those who come from under-resourced communities. STEM mentors can help middle school students address setbacks and strategies to select STEM majors and careers by participating in this 100% engagement opportunity!
If you are in need of additional credits for Spring 2015, there is a new 3-unit course option has opened up for the accelerated 7-week session (7W2) that will begin on March 9 (running 3/9/2015 through 5/6/2015, with the usual semester closures in place; there will be no classes during spring break).
“CLAS/RELI 305-002 – Greek and Roman Religion” is now open on UAccess for enrollment during the 7W2 session for Spring 2015.
This course can count toward the Classics or Religious Studies major and minor. It also counts as General Education: Tier 2 Individuals and Societies, and Writing Emphasis.
