Director, Academic Advising & Student Success
College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, The University of Arizona
The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Arizona is seeking an outstanding director for a full-time position as Director, Academic Advising & Student Success.
The position will involve two primary responsibilities. The first is directing a strong and dedicated team of 15+ professional Academic Advisers in planning, coordinating, implementing and managing the academic advising mission goals and programs for the College of SBS, including collaborating with campus colleagues in developing programming relevant to academic advising and student retention; participating in student recruitment and new student orientation; coordinating and presenting at special events that support students in the College of SBS, and managing special student cases or appeals.
The second area of responsibility will focus on Student Engagement, including working with advisors and other support personnel as well as directly with students on professional and leadership development through courses, workshops, and other resources; creating a suite of service and engaged learning materials and methods for use in the classroom (both traditional and online) to share with faculty and department heads throughout SBS; serving as a central contact for corporate, governmental, nonprofit, and other community partners seeking interns and volunteers; and participating in trainings, meetings, and collaborative efforts provided by UA's Academic Initiatives & Student Success.
