Public Lands Foundation George Lea Founder's Scholarship!

Please encourage your eligible students to apply for the Public Lands Foundation George Lea Founder's Scholarship!

The George Lea Founder's Scholarship consists of:

1)     $5,000 to be used toward the student's tuition expenses;

2)     An invitation to attend the next Public Lands Foundation annual meeting, with all transportation and living expenses paid;

3)     The opportunity to "shadow" a local Bureau of Land Management manager for a day.

Students who are eligible to apply include:

*        All Juniors, Seniors, and Masters-level graduate students majoring in a natural resource or public land policy curriculum;

*        And who demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0;

*        And are full-time students carrying a full-course workload.

(The instructions on the application form say to email materials to Mike Ferguson by March 15 - PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL YOUR MATERIALS TO MIKE FERGUSON. The University of Arizona will nominate 3 applicants from our applicant pool to forward to the foundation).

*        Provide evidence of the need for financial assistance by filling out the form attached to this email

*        One recommendation letter from a faculty member in the applicant's major

Greetings Region 10!

Here's hoping that the semester is finding you all well as we all continue to support our student populations! I am writing to you today to inform you of some fast approaching deadlines in Region 10 regarding awards, travel funding opportunities, and conference registration fees. Please see below for information on these opportunities:

February 13th
Travel Scholarship for the Regional Conference

This Travel Scholarship is worth $575 towards our upcoming Regional Conference in Boulder, CO. The conference is March 9-11. There are five scholarships that will be awarded (one from each state) with the potential for more depending on the budget for the given year.

February 15th
Travel Scholarship for the Research Symposium

This year's Research Symposium will be held in Indianapolis, IN from April 10-11, 2015. It follows the NACADA Region 5 conference. There are two $500 awards available.
To apply, please send Joe Davis (joseph.w.davis at asu.edu<mailto:joseph.w.davis at asu.edu>) an e-mail with the following information.
-Full Name
-Institution
-Itemized budget of expenses for the symposium (travel, lodging, registration, etc).
-Maximum two page outline/proposal regarding some of your ideas that you would like to develop into a research at the NACADA Research Symposium.

February 17th
Early Registration Deadline for the Region 10 Conference in Boulder, Colorado (March 9-11).

The current registration cost of $125 goes up to $160 after February 17th.  This is our regional conference and is a fantastic way to expand your horizons as an advisor as we learn, engage, and explore the field of advising with our colleagues throughout the region. We look forward to seeing you there!

2nd Agvisors Meeting - Tuesday February 24 from 11am-1pm at Saguaro Hall 219.  Tentative agenda and lunch information will be sent out next week.
