The Fall 2015 Schedule of Classes will be available  March 2, 2015.  Students will be able to use their shopping carts and view their Enrollment Appointments in UAccess on March 2, 2015 as well.
April 20 - 26, 2015
Freshman - You will be able to register beginning at 6am on 4/20/15 through 8pm on 4/26/15.

April 27, 2015
Registration open to all degree seeking continuing students for registration, adds, drops, and changes.

April 29, 2015
Registration open to all degree seeking readmits and transfer students for registration, adds, drops, and changes.

August 17, 2015
Registration open to all non-degree seeking undergraduate students.

Dates and Deadlines

April 1-April 21: Course withdrawals may be processed only with the approval of the student's College Dean on a Late Change Petition now through April 14th. Students must have an extra ordinary reason for approval. Visit Saguaro Hall Room 221 for additional information.

May 6, 2015: LAST DAY OF CLASSES.  No registration changes can be made after the last day of classes.
Last day to: File a complete withdrawal (https://www.registrar.arizona.edu/complete-withdrawal) , File a $25.00 Late Drop Fee Appeal form, File $250.00 Late Registration Fee appeal
May 7, 2015: Reading day - no classes or finals

May 8 - 14, 2015: FINAL EXAMS PERIOD

May 16, 2015:Spring Commencement date and degree award date for students completing by close of spring semester

Looking for a way to share your love of biology with others, serve your community, AND get credit?
Join SORT (STEM Outreach and Recruitment Team) and help K-12 kids, parents, and the general public learn about science!

SORT students serve the community by:

Helping K-12 students and teachers, the general public, and their fellow undergraduates get excited and learn about science!
Learning and conducting fun biology demonstrations for public events (both on and off campus)
Organize engaging events for fellow college students, such as lab tours and workshops
Helping high school students learn about what studying science at UA is like
Assisting groups on campus with science outreach and recruitment
Providing feedback to and/or judging K-12 students’ science fair ideas and projects

What do SORT students gain
They hone their public speaking and presentation skills to talk about science to different audiences!
They learn how to communicate science verbally and via media and film
They can tailor their interests in sharing science with others; SORT students have the flexibility to choose from a variety of activities in which to participate over the course of the semester Students in SORT will earn 1 unit of upper division credit for MCB 399, spending a grand total of 45 hours during the semester participating in a combination of the above activities and attending class meetings. Students will be given grades of Superior, Pass, or Fail, based on their attendance and participation.

To be eligible, you must:

Be an UA sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in any biological science (MCB, Biology, EEB, Biochemistry, Physiology, Microbiology, Nutritional Sciences, etc.).

Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

Be able to consistently attend a 50-minute class meeting each week. (Class times will be arranged around students' Fall schedules.)

Preferably have public speaking skills and be involved in independent research on campus.

·One letter of recommendation from a professor, TA, RA, high school teacher, etc.
·Your resume, including employment history, clubs/activities, and other commitments as appropriate (one page maximum).
·A statement of interest: How would participating in SORT play a role in your future educational and/or career goals? (no longer than one page)

We will inform you by the end of May if you have been selected to participate.

MAIN CAMPUS FARMER'S MARKET

The UA is hosting its second farmers' market on the mall Wednesday, April 22, from 10 am until 2 pm.
Student Assistants Positions are open for the Admissions Processing Unit for Fall 2015 and Spring 2016, 15-20 hours a week. Work study preferred. Deadline to submit application is Friday April 17th. See attached application for details.

Student Assistants are responsible for working with the Admissions Processing Unit to assist with a variety of functions in support of the Office of Admissions and the University’s enrollment goals. Student Assistants will also be expected to attend meetings and other periodic trainings as requested.

The duties for Student Assistants include, but are not limited to:
·Assisting with the receiving, tracking, indexing, and processing of undergraduate admissions applications, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and any and all other submitted materials in support of an application.
·Assisting with mail (incoming and outgoing) as well as preparing letters and mailing campaigns for distribution.
·Data entry functions.
·Provide superior customer service and high levels of professionalism at all times, with all colleagues, fellow students and staff.
·Contacting applicants directly by phone.
·Other duties as assigned.

ENGL Online Summer Courses

In just 5 weeks online students who require ENGL102 or 109H can complete the UA Writing Requirement and students who require ENGL308 can complete a major requirement! If ENGL101 is needed, students should consider the online summer course so that they can take ENGL102 in fall. Visit the summer session schedule of classes to register.

Position: Scientist I- Breeder – Agronomist Assistant
Location: Eloy AZ

Objective
Bridgestone has a research program to commercialize guayule as an alternative source of natural rubber for tires.  This position will support the breeding and agronomics.  Specific experience / interests include crop research and production, and data management experience using MySQL or Access. Ability to adapt new and existing data capture technologies to local research needs.

Responsibilities
-Assist with plant breeding database management.
-Establishment and maintenance of field sites.
-Plant sampling and field measurements.
-Harvest and processing of field collections.

Project Summary
Guayule is a desert perennial shrub native to Southwest USA and Northern Mexico.  The plant reproduces predominately by apomixes but some types have normal sexual reproduction. Our breeding and agronomic management is geared toward lowering the costs of production and increasing the rubber yield. Our research farm includes laboratory, greenhouses, and production fields.  We have other production fields and experimental sites throughout Arizona.

This is a free beginner workshop and it is open to anyone of any major. No prior programming experience is required! This is a great opportunity to learn something interesting. Plus, it looks great on your resume!

This will be a full-day workshop and we will be covering 3 languages: Python, Java, and C.


Become a Recycling Ambassador for Greening the Game!
For Fall 2015
$8.25/hour

Greening the Game is an initiative run through Students for Sustainability, an ASUA program. The goal of this program are to reach out to fans and educate them during tailgating and to clean the stadiums after the game. This is a fun and a hands on job that will teach students about how to be educational leaders and inform them about sustainable initiatives on the UA Campus.

The Testing Office is seeking student employees for a temporary project that will take place between May 4th and May 15, 2015.  These position would be for test proctors who will assist with facilitating Advanced Placement (AP) exams on behalf of TUSD.  All exams will take place at Santa Rita High School and work hours will range between 6 am – 5 pm depending on the day and exam(s) being proctored.  In addition, we have a couple of permanent positions at the office that need to be filled.  You would have to be available to work Monday – Friday over the summer and have to be enrolled as a full time student in the Fall, 2015.  Please add if you would be interested to be considered for this postion as well in your email.
