Hello Agvisors,
I hope everyone had an excellent weekend. I wanted to follow up with you all regarding the science transfer course evaluation form that was discussed at the last Agvisors meeting. It has come to our attention that many classes, including BIOC 384 and BIOC 385, have added enrollment requirements including MCB 181r, CHEM 152 & CHEM 241a for the upcoming semester. This may negatively impact transfer students who have transfer credit for biology and chemistry and haven't filled out thre transfer evaluation form found at this link: https://aztransmac2.asu.edu/cgi-bin/WebObjects/acres.woa/wa/form?id=498. This form is used to evaluate all chemistry, biology, physics and anatomy & physiology transfer courses.

In our college, advisors have the prerogative to make science exceptions, however UAccess does not recognize these exceptions as fulfilling prerequisite requirements. In order for the transfer course to fulfill the prerequisite requriement, it must be evaluated by the respective offering department and re-coded as the specific UA equivalent course in the student's transfer credit report. As more and more courses are adding enrollment requirements it is important that you have transfer students fill out the evaluation form so that they meet these course prerequisit requirements.
In the case that the offering department doesn't consider the course a UA equivalent your department can still choose to make the exception for the course to fulfill the student's major requirement, just be aware that the student may be negatively impacted if the course is an enforced prerequistie for other required courses in the major.
The link to the science transfer course evaluation form, along with links to math, second language and English transfer evaluation forms can be found on our Agvisors webpage: https://cals.arizona.edu/cas/agvisors. We are also sharing information about all the out-of-state transfer evaluation requirements with students at their CALS transfer orientation session.
Please let Nancy or I know if you have any additional questions or concerns about this.
Best,
Kristen
