Subject: [UPAC] Announcing UROC-PREP

The Graduate College is launching UROC-PREP this spring. Especially for University of Arizona Juniors or Seniors interested in going to graduate school in fall 2016, UROC-PREP is a year-round research and mentoring program for students interested in pursuing a research-oriented Master's or PHD in all disciplines including STEM but with an emphasis on social science, humanities, or fine arts.  The priority application deadline for UROC-PREP is November 15.  The application is live right now at www.grad.arizona.edu/UROC<http://www.grad.arizona.edu/UROC>  Applications will be reviewed as they are received; however, no student notifications will be made until after November 15.

With your help, we will have a robust applicant pool of underrepresented students for UROC-PREP and all of the Graduate College-sponsored UROC programs (SRI, STAR, MHD, or MARC). Qualified UA applicants who may not be a good fit for UROC-PREP based upon their major or planned graduation date, for example, will automatically be considered for SRI, STAR, MHD, or MARC.  We will accept applications for all of the Graduate College-sponsored UROC programs through February 1.

All of the UROC Affiliates accept students from other universities (and sometimes from UA, as well), so if you have connections with faculty, staff, and/or students at other institutions, please feel free to share the word about UROC.  Our Affiliate programs' descriptions and application deadlines can be found at www.grad.arizona.edu/UROC<http://www.grad.arizona.edu/UROC>.

Would you please take this moment to share (or make a plan to share) the attached resources with students and/or faculty you know who might be interested in UROC? We rely heavily on word of mouth and testimonials from faculty, staff, and students to influence low income, first generation, and underrepresented minority students to apply. Truly, no centralized email or social media campaign has the influence of a single, meaningful referral from a student's trusted ally.
