Hello advising colleagues:

I'm preparing to go on maternity leave in October, and wanted to let you know how this will impact the degree check process for Honors students.  We currently require that all students schedule an appointment with me in order to complete the Honors portion of the degree check.  In my absence, we will no longer be scheduling degree checks appointments.  Effective immediately, students will need to drop off their pink sheets at the front desk of Slonaker House during regular business hours, and will be able to pick up the completed form within two weeks.  (Degree checks for December graduates will be prioritized and completed in a shorter time frame.)

Please note that all students intending to graduate with Honors absolutely must obtain the Honors signature on the pink sheet, even if the ADVIP runs clean.  Students who are active members of the Honors College but have no intention of graduating with Honors (not completing a thesis/capstone, or not able to reach a 3.5 GPA) do not need to obtain an Honors signature on the degree check.

I appreciate your sharing this information with your students as you direct them through the degree check process, and I appreciate your understanding that we need to adapt our procedures while I'm away from the office.  I plan to return on a part-time basis in January, so will resume my meetings with graduating students at that time.
